The Cima Memorial was presented this morning
The press conference to present the Cima Memorial took place this morning, Thursday 6 September, at the headquarters of the IDEA Association, scheduled for Saturday 8 September at 19.30 pm: in front Bertram Derthona e Novipiù Casale Monferrato, in a classic preseason event for both teams.
ʺThis is a great gift that Tortona and Casale wanted to give: their first friendly match near home – began Paolo Berta, president of the IDEA Onlus Association, the event's promoter – it is the Cima Memorial. This is a great opportunity for fans to see the players at work, and it is an important moment to remember Ernesto Cima, a winner in sport and in lifeʺ.
President Roberto Tava was present for Derthona Basket, who wanted to underline the charitable purpose of the event in memory of Cima, who passed away prematurely at the age of 47: ʺBeing here today is a pride for three different reasons: having the fortune of supporting and sharing the great ideas of Paolo Berta, remembering the memory of Ernesto Cima, who I got to know at the beginning of my career as a player, and competing at the highest levels with our team. This year we wanted to give greater continuity to our roster, confirming four athletes already present last season: we then included experienced players and experts from the A2 championship. We believe we have set up a competitive team capable of playing for the top positions in the standings: our minimum objective is the playoffs. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that on Saturday, from 14pm to 18pm, there will also be a tournament in the Beginners category which will involve our team, Olympia Casale, College Basket Alessandria and PMS Moncalieri. This year we have also decided to invest heavily in the youth sector, with the intention of developing players who can then one day wear the first team shirt..
Giacomo Carrera, general director of Novipiù, was also present at the event and recalled the charitable purpose of the match: ʺIt is a derby whose purpose I want to underline: in recent years, and we have been present since the first edition, it has been nice to see the PalaCima always full of people. At the end of the match there will also be a third time between the two teams, and this is another aspect that makes me very happy. This year our team is young and has changed a lot compared to last season: the race will be a useful test for our growth.
At the end of Saturday's match, there will be the opportunity for the fans present at the arena to walk through the streets of the center of Alessandria among outdoor buffets, musical and theatrical shows and much more.
