Derthona Basketball

United States | June 30 1988

Born on June 30, 1988 in Rochester (Minnesota), Cain began his career at John Marshall High School, before choosing the University of South Dakota Coyotes for his collegiate career. After completing his four-year university course, Tyler moved to Latvia, where he wore the Vef Riga shirt from 2010 to 2012, winning the championship in both years.

After another year in Latvia, at Barons Riga, in 2013/14 Tyler arrived in Italy for his first experience, with the Forlì shirt in DNA Gold. The player is the protagonist of a great year on an individual level, averaging 17 points and 11 rebounds (first in the league in this statistical item) per outing.

Important numbers that earned him the call of Pau-Lacq-Orthez, an ambitious team playing in the French Pro A championship, where he finished with 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per match. The following year he remained in France again, moving to Châlon-Reims, where he confirmed himself as one of the best rebounders of the entire tournament.

Once the two-year period in France was over, Cain returned to Italy, where he would spend all the subsequent years of his career. The first stop was in Varese, where he remained from 2017 to 2019 and soon became an important player on Attilio Caja's board also due to his intimidating skills in the middle of the area. In Lombardy he confirmed himself as a great specialist in caroms, both offensive and defensive: he closed the first year with an average of 8.9 rebounds and the second with 10.8, coming close to achieving a double double with 9.7 points produced per game.

His reliability on both sides of the pitch does not go unnoticed and in the summer of 2019 the call came from the ambitious Germani Brescia, with whom Cain competed in both the championship and the EuroCup. His performance in terms of points and rebounds remained constant throughout the entire year. He leaves Brescia at the end of the season to wear the glorious VL Pesaro jersey, of which he becomes a pillar from his first outings. His 11.3 points and 9.0 rebounds on average allowed the team coached by Jasmin Repesa to reach the Italian Cup final, lost against Armani Exchange Milano, and obtain salvation.

Now Tyler comes to Bertram Derthona to start a new chapter in his career.
