Derthona's third high of the season comes at the end of a match that the Lions had to win twice, thrilling a PalaFerraris who were truly involved in supporting their favorites. The two Juventus points arrive at the end of a thrilling final, in which Greene and his teammates had to face the vehement return of the host from 49-32 at the end of the first half, up to 71-70 Derthona set by Deloach's triple at 3 ' from the end. A triple by Greene gave Derthona momentum back (76-71 with 90" to go), giving Derthona a handful of points of margin that Eurobasket was no longer able to close in the frantic final of the match.

At the start it was Greene and Garri who gave Derthona the lead, making it 20-17 for Juventus at the first siren. Two long-range baskets by Alviti and Cucci at the start of the second quarter opened the gap between the two teams; a 9-0 Derthona run allowed the Bianconeri to reach their maximum lead at 41-24 in the 16th minute, then repeated for 49-32 at the break.
The third quarter brings Roma's comeback, closing a run of 10-22 and shortening it to 59-54 in the 30th minute. Derthona skids but manages to keep its head ahead until the happy final sprint.
So coach Demis Cavina: “If they had told me that after three days we would have been at six points I would never have believed it, especially considering the absence of Reati and the not yet top form of some of the senators. This is a victory that starts from the great defense and which acquires greater value because we played for the first time, including the pre-season, against Roma's zonal defense in the second half. Young people? They have been fundamental but to continue improving they have to work hard during the week.”
