New additions to Bertram's 2025-26 staff

The summer of great changes of the Bertram Derthona Basketball continues in the various sectors of the Lions staff.

Following the recent appointment of Mario Fioretti as head coach, the black and white club announces the arrival of Andrea Vicenzuto, who will be one of the assistant coaches of the former Olimpia Milano. The 34-year-old from Pordenone is brought back to Italy by Derthona after having followed Dragan Sakota to AEK Athens from their previous, common experience in Brindisi. It was on the Greek bench that he was an opponent of Tortona in the Round of 16 of the last Champions League. “I am extremely happy to have received the call from coach Fioretti asking me to become his assistant at Derthona. Working with a coach like him, with his profile, experience and background, in a place like Tortona, is a real source of pride for me. I can't wait to meet all the members of the organization in person, to enter the Cittadella dello Sport for the first training session. I hope that this season in our new home can be special”.

Alongside the former AEK player, the other assistant will remain on the Lions' bench Iacopo Squarcina, a Turin native born in '88 in his third consecutive season in black and white: “The most important thing for me was the trust of the club and coach Fioretti in me: it is a sign that I hold tight and on which I have placed my motivations for the coming year. I am pleased to be able to learn from Mario and Andrea Vicenzutto. I am hungry for basketball, comparing myself with different visions and testing myself in a context that I already know, but different in its interpreters, is super stimulating.”

After 11 years at Vanoli Cremona, the 41-year-old lands in Piedmont Jacob Torresi, Bertram's new Strength and Conditioning Coach. From the Marches, Montegranaro, he will take care of the athletic and physical preparation of the black and whites: “I thank the club for giving me this great opportunity. The Gavio family and President Marco Picchi believed in me and I am truly excited to be able to begin this new journey. I know very well that I will be stepping into a very ambitious club, with a great structure, which has shown over the years that it wants to improve. I will be taking the place of a great professional like Andrea Baldi, a dear friend and colleague to whom I wish the best of luck for his future.”

The role of Team Manager has also been renewed, and will see the presence of Thomas Bergamini. The Imola native born in 89 comes from four seasons spent from 2020 to 2024 at Virtus Bologna, with whom he celebrated a championship, a Eurocup and three Italian Supercups: “After my past experiences, I was looking for a new project. When Derthona called, I had few doubts, because I believe that there are all the necessary components to work well. Starting from the solidity of the company and the project in general, their facilities that with the completion of the Cittadella are first-rate. And above all the quality of the people who are part of this project, and of their ideas.”

Michael Talamazzi will instead be the International Scout. Cremonese, 43 years old and a former journalist, leaves Pallacanestro Reggiana after five years, where he carried out his scouting work with excellent results in addition to that of team manager: “I thank Dr. Gavio and President Picchi for the wonderful opportunity to contribute to an ambitious and constantly growing project. I will put all my passion and skills at the service of the club, with the aim of offering the best possible support to the technical staff. Becoming part of Derthona Basket is an extraordinary professional boost.”
