New international experience for Werther Bellinaso: 2nd place behind Real Madrid with Orange1 Bassano for the 2008 class at the U16 tournament in Tenerife

The personal satisfactions continue for Werther Bellinaso. After being called up to the Under 15 national teams last season and being selected for the Summer Basketball Tour in Atlanta in the United States, the player from the youth of the Derthona Basketball took part, on loan, in the expedition ofOrange1 Basket Bassano al 25th U16 Villa de La Orotava Tournament, played last week on the Spanish island of tenerife. For him and the Venetian team there was a good second place finish, beaten in the competition only by Real Madrid, winner of both the qualifying round and the final against them (70-59). For the rest, successes against the hosts CB San Isidro and the American selection Next Hoops, before the success in the semi-final against CB Canarias Lenovo Tenerife.

"A definitely positive experience because first of all it's always nice to meet new realities, new people, new coaches, in short people who are in this world. Then the tournament is now a tradition of European youth basketball and competing with top-level teams such as Real Madrid, Canarias Tenerife and others present puts you in front of different difficulties than usual.”, says theexterior born in 2008 of the Juventus guesthouse. “Before the final against Real Madrid there was a bit of excitement, but once we got to that point in the competition we had nothing left to lose, we threw ourselves onto the pitch, we almost went to the point of playing it point by point, but they were really strong and prevailed".
Having returned to Tortona, Werther will now be able to begin his experience in the 2023/24 championships both with the U17 Eccellenza and, largely from underage, with the U19 Eccellenza dei Leoni: "Being part of the U19 team will also help me improve as a player due to the experience I will accumulate over the course of the season and which is formed by playing with those who are older. Furthermore, the double commitment means having the opportunity to play more matches, therefore playing more, therefore competing more, and that's what I like most.".

"We thank Bassano and the general manager Giacomo Rossi for the wonderful opportunity given to our boy. We already have other important collaborations with them planned for the future”, the comment of the manager responsible for the youth sector Andrea Ablatico.
