Note from the Lega Basket A Assembly on the capacity limit

The Assembly of the Lega Basket which met yesterday via video conference reiterated the line already expressed on several occasions regarding the request to the Government to review the 35% capacity limit currently envisaged for sports halls, confirming the absolute need to arrive sooner possible to a total opening of the indoor facilities for Green Pass holders.

The continuation of these limitations, associated with the progressive increase in vaccinations and the extension of the Green Pass obligation to an ever-increasing number of sectors of the country's life, would continue to convey the wrong message on the effectiveness of these tools for definitively overcoming the sanitary emergency.

The Serie A clubs realize that there are other important priorities on the country's agenda at the moment, starting with the opening of schools as early as next week, which do not allow the problem of the limited capacity of sports halls to be addressed with the necessary attention and the serious consequences caused by its continuation which put the survival of the societies themselves at serious risk. Nonetheless, the Lega Basket will continue in its daily interaction with the Government and the Institutions, sporting and otherwise, with the aim of obtaining, over time, the complete reopening of the facilities, also through a gradual process, in light of what is already happening in other European countries.

The clubs have reserved the right to re-evaluate the situation in the near future, while awaiting the desired measures that the Government could take, while continuing to underline how maintaining the current capacity restrictions makes the start of the championship extremely problematic.
