Next Gen Cup, Bertram sees the Final Eight. After the trio in Pesaro, the decisive second stage in Trento and Rovereto will take place in February

In pole position for qualifying for the Final Eight. It is the enviable condition in which it has placed itself Bertram Yachts Derthona Tortona thanks to the hat-trick of victories achieved in first step di Pesaro of Next Gen Cup, the tournament of Legabasket reserved for teams Under 19 Excellence of the sixteen clubs of Serie A. The 3 out of 3 collected at Vitrifrigo Arena at the turn of last weekend, as well as putting the team coached by Luca Ansaloni among the only three undefeated together with Dolomites Energy Trentino and to the hosts of the Carpegna Prosciutto Papalini Pesaro, will allow the young Bianconeri to be satisfied with even just one victory in the remaining four matches of their season Group A, scheduled from the 23 26 February of second stage di Trento and Rovereto, to secure a place in the Final Eight of the competition, which is accessed by the top four in each of the two groups and organized with direct elimination matches involving quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final for the title. The opponents in Trentino of Carlo Zonca and his companions will be the co-leaders Pesaro, Nutribullet Treviso, Trieste basketball e Varese Basketball.

The result was achieved with important successes also in terms of proportions to the detriment of Happy Casa Brindisi (92-51), Bank of Sardinia Sassari (77-65) and UNAHOTELS Reggio Emilia (77-55), placing the Tortona Lions at the top of the group standings with 6 points tied with Pesaro and with an advantage of already 4 points over the fifth-placed team, the first to be excluded from qualifying for the final phase of the tournament. The goal was achieved as a team, as also demonstrated by the final statistics, with four players averaging double figures in points and a fifth coming close to it and 11 of the 14 Bianconeri of the expedition to the Marche region playing at least 12 minutes per match.

STATEMENTS

The play-guard averaged 12.7 points in 25.0 minutes Nicholas Errica he was the second scorer (behind the 15.7 of the "basket twin" Lorenzo Baldi) and the most used of the team on the Pesaro parquet. The contribution of the class of 2005 to the clear path of the Piedmontese is evident: “We went to Pesaro with the idea of getting full points, in the first and third days against Sassari and Reggio Emilia we did very well, in the second against Sassari we had some problems in attack and defense, but in the end we managed it. Now let's move on to the second phase, two big clashes await us in particular with Pesaro and Treviso but we have the right energy and determination to face them in the best possible way".
The coach Luca Ansaloni: “We know that the event is divided into two phases, looking at the results of the first we will find ourselves facing the most dangerous teams in the group in the second stage, so we have not done anything extraordinary, we have done our job so far and we must continue to do so in the second part of the tournament. As regards the work done in this first year and a few months of my technical management, I believe that we see a little something at every start we make, both in the U19 and in the senior Serie C Gold championship. And fortunately, competing with teams from the Serie A youth sectors such as Next Gen also gives us another point of comparison and it is a point of comparison that provides us with some small signals to be satisfied with. The Pesaro parenthesis is over – continues the Bolognese coach – we start again with the U19 Eccellenza championship, we have moved some matches to participate in the Next Gen, so we will also resume including these matches that we have moved, subjecting the boys to a real tour de force. However, now we have an additional experience, which only these events provide, in which we experience high-level basketball in a beautiful competition and in a stimulating context.".
The executive vice president of the Derthona Basketball Lab, Andrea Ablatico: “I knew that the boys could have done well, perhaps in terms of the size of the victories the matter surprised me a little, especially the match against Reggio Emilia we considered a difficult match and instead even there the boys played a very intense match right from the start start, supported by notable shooting percentages, at least in the first part. Now we go to Trento and Rovereto knowing that a victory in four games is enough for us to advance to the Final Eight. I would like to thank the friends of Roseto Basket 20.20 who lent us Ousmane Maiga for this competition, who, if they give him to us again, will also be with us in Trento because he is a golden boy. The satisfaction is remarkable, being considered in this context as we were considered in the four days in Pesaro, for someone like me who started from Derthona in Serie D, makes us particularly proud of the journey we have made.".
