Defeat for the Bertram Derthona which, devoid of Alibegović, surrendered to the league leaders Virtus Roma at the end of a match led in pace and score by coach Piero Bucchi's team.

Great balance on the pitch between the two teams during the first quarter: it is then with a 5-0 run signed by Moore and Landi that Virtus ends the first ten minutes leading 15-10.

In the second period the defense of Bertram increases in intensity and the Bianconeri, thanks to the initiatives of Bertone, they find the overtaking at 24-26. In the following minutes the home team reacted, producing an 8-0 break which was worth 32-26 and forced coach Ramondino to stop the game. At the end of the first half, Virtus reached a double-digit lead at 40-30, with two consecutive triples from Moore: the basket Jargons then closes the gap at halftime (40-32 at 20').

At the start of the third quarter, Roma extended the lead to 46-32, the maximum gap between the two teams, before suffering the reaction of Derthona driven by Viglianisi: after the basket by Nibbles, which is worth 48-38, coach Bucchi calls a time-out. In the following minutes the balance between the two teams remained: a triple from Landi then closed the third quarter at 55-46.

At the start of the last quarter Bertram tries to get back into the score, but the plays of Alibegovic and Moore push Virtus back to a double-digit lead (63-49 in the 36th minute). In the final the Bianconeri lose Nibbles due to an injury suffered to the right ankle in an attempt to recover a loose ball and Roma extended their lead to 79-66 at the siren thanks to the precision of the three-point shot.

Championship eve for Bertram Derthona, awaiting the match against Virtus Roma scheduled for Sunday 10 March at 17.00 pm at the Palazzo dello Sport in Rome and valid for the 24th round of the West Group of the Serie A2 Old Wild West championship. The Bianconeri played a friendly test against Bakery Piacenza on Wednesday 6 March, from which indications emerged ʺgood and others less good, taking into consideration the physical conditions in which we faced the scrimmage. We're getting used to it – begins coach Ramondino – and we are becoming specialists in managing injury emergencies: this type of mentality and attitude which allows us to find unconventional and unprepared solutions must also be present in the championship. We must therefore try to capitalize on the strengths we have against each individual opponent from time to time.

Virtus Roma is the current leader of the West Group, with a record of sixteen victories and seven defeats, and is a team ʺwhose value cannot be questioned either at the individual level or – continues the Juventus coach – in terms of gameplay quality. This is a team with a great ability to attack the area: the 23 free throws attempted per game are testimony to this great ability of theirs.. Continuing the analysis of the team coached by Piero Bucchi, coach Ramondino highlights the depth of the roster and ʺthe ability they have in finding different protagonists in each match, with many players capable of leaving their mark and being decisiveʺ.

For Bertram it will therefore be a game ʺwith a very high level of difficulty, due to the strength of our opponents: on our part, we will need to put great physicality on the pitch to follow up on the good things we did in the first part of the second roundʺ.

In closing, the Juventus coach wanted to make an analysis of the path taken by the team during the last period in which ʺFrom a character point of view, the continuity shown by the players in the last two and a half months is a very positive sign and a good indicator to work on. As for the other aspects, we will have to be good at living day by day, as it is the best way to deal with the continuous emergency we have to live with..

So Brett Blizzard: ʺThe friendly match against Piacenza was useful because it allowed us to find the match rhythm in view of the match against Virtus Roma, which is a team whose main offensive players are Moore and Sims. However, I believe that the other Virtus players are also very good at finalizing the plays of the two Americans; however, it will be important to limit Sims' game in the low post and prevent Moore from taking easy shots. From our point of view we have improved in the last few matches but I believe we can still improve a lot: we must think that every match between now and the end of the season will be decisive for usʺ.
