Convincing success for Bertram Derthona, who broke the deadlock against Scafati in the debut of new head coach Marco Ramondino. Still without Ndoja, the Bianconeri also had to give up Ganeto but played a game of great intensity on both sides of the pitch, leading the score from the start and progressively extending their lead in the second half until the final siren. The start of the match was characterized by the balance between the two teams, who found good fluidity in the offensive solutions: in the last minutes of the half Bertram - thanks to great defensive intensity - produced a 10-2 partial which allowed the Bianconeri to take the lead 23-16 the first ten minutes of the game. The match continues with the same leitmotif also in the second period, with Ramondino's team finding unanimous solutions in the offensive half of the field which allow them to keep the gap towards their opponents unchanged. In the last minutes of the first half Scafati comes back into contact thanks to a 6-0 break: at half-time the score is 38-37 for the home team. Balance that reigns supreme even upon returning from the locker rooms, before a new acceleration by Bertram - inspired by Blizzard's baskets - which finds the +11 (53-42 at 27') after a three-point basket by Tuoyo which forces coach Calvani to stop the game. The Bianconeri's run was further fueled by the great defensive intensity that forced two almost consecutive 24-second infringements and by Knowles' plays that pushed the home team to 60-44 in the 30th minute. In the last quarter Scafati tries to get back into contact by raising the intensity of his game, but Bertram does not lose his composure and continues to play with great clarity, finding excellent solutions in attack: then there are two consecutive triples - one from Gergati and one from Knowles – to give the Bianconeri the new maximum advantage in the match (73-54 in the 36th minute). In the last minutes of the game the hosts continued to grind out the game until the siren, finding their first success in the championship: the final score was 85-64.
Championship eve for the Bertram Derthona, involved tomorrow evening, Wednesday 24 October, against Scafati in the second home match of their tournament: the match will be played at 20.30pm at PalaOltrepò.
Il assistant coach of Bertram Massimo Olivieri presented the qualities of the team coached by coach Calvani and the difficulties that this commitment presents:
ʺScafati is an organized team and capable of proposing different tactical solutions during the match, both in attack and defense.
Among the most talented players are Thomas, Goodwin and Tommasini, capable of scoring even with impromptu solutions: for our part, it will be important to stay focused on defense for all 24 seconds of the action to limit them.
In defense Scafati proposes zone or man-based solutions, putting a lot of energy into play: we will need to be clear and compact throughout the match, avoiding the blackouts that we have experienced during the three matches played so farʺ
