Massimo Olivieri: “I will put all my enthusiasm and experience at the service of Lorenzo and the whole club”

Today's was for Massimo Olivieri the first black and white morning. Present early in the morning at the "Uccio Camagna" sports hall, the new assistant coach of Bertram Derthona was able to begin his work with the Juventus technical staff.

The curriculum:
Born on 22/04/1978, Olivieri started with the youth team of Parma – city where he is originally from – his professional path. He soon moved to the Reggio Emilia basketball, where he remained from 2000 to 2011, both dealing with the youth sector under the guidance of Andrea Menozzi and covering the role of assistant coach of the first team, first with Fabrizio Frates and then with Alessandro Ramagli. Also in 2011 he served as assistant coach of Under-18 national team at the European Championships in the category, assisting coach Stefano Bizzozi together with the current coach of Bertram Derthona Lorenzo Pansa, second participation in a European Youth Championship after having acted as assistant to Gaetano Gebbia at the Under16 European Championships in Leon Ponferrada (Spain) in 2004. In 2012 he was hired as head coach of Lavezzini Parma in A1 Female, being reconfirmed also in the 2013/2014 season. From 2015 to today he has been technical manager of the youth sector of Fulgor Basket Fidenza.
Olivieri has been a trainer at the coaching courses organized by the national and regional Emilia Romagna CNA since 2011.

These are his first words in black and white: “Tortona is known as a serious reality, made up of simple but ambitious people. I am happy to work with a head coach who I was lucky enough to know first as an opponent in the 2000s, when we both coached in the youth sectors, then together, in the national youth team. I will put all my enthusiasm and experience at the service of Lorenzo and the whole club to give an imprint to the team both from a technical point of view and from a professional and human point of view and to achieve the best possible result."

On the collaboration with Lorenzo Pansa, Olivieri says that "in the summer of 2011 we were lucky enough to be called by Stefano Bizzozi who was the head coach of the Under 18s (vintage '93). We did the entire pre-European and European journey together, developing a relationship based on mutual discussion and the constant stimulus to try one idea rather than another. It was a wonderful experience, which we still remember today as one of the best of our career. We lost the semi-final by 3 points and the third-quarter final by 2 points: we still have the wooden medal that we actually got made hidden in some drawer. Since then we have often talked about how nice it would be to train together and finally this opportunity has materialized.”

How did you manage the transition from Fidenza to Tortona?
“As soon as the call arrived I spoke with the Fulgor management and together we shared the importance of this opportunity, also aware of the fact that the structure and the yellow-blue project will go ahead at full speed despite my distance. I reiterate that I will be the first supporter of the Fulgor Fidenza project, where my children will continue to play. I thank the Derthona management for the trust they have placed in me, I will do my best to make the best contribution to the final result."
