Massimo Olivieri is the new technical manager of the Juventus youth sector

Bertram Derthona announces that it has reached a three-year agreement with Massimo Olivieri for the role of Technical Manager of the youth sector, a position that will become operational starting from 1 July 2019. Last season Olivieri held the role of assistant coach of the Bertram Derthona first team, first with Lorenzo Pansa and then with Marco Ramondino.

CAREER – Born on 22 April 1978, Olivieri began his professional career in Parma, the city where he was originally from. He then moves to Reggio Emilia basketball, where he remained from 2001 to 2010, both dealing with the youth sector under the guidance of Andrea Menozzi, and holding the role of assistant coach in Serie A, first with Fabrizio Frates and then with Alessandro Ramagli. In the 2010/11 season he was responsible for the youth sector of Vico Basket Parma.

Also in 2011 he was assistant coach of the Under 18 men's national team coached by Stefano Bizzozi, Massimo's second experience as assistant of a national team after that of the 16 Under 2004 European Championships held alongside Gaetano Gebbia. In 2013/14 he was hired by Lavezzini Parma as head coach of the first team playing in the women's Serie A1, reaching the playoff quarter-finals and being reconfirmed for the following season.

From 2016 to 2018 he was technical manager of the youth sector of Fulgor Fidenza, while last season, as mentioned, he held the position of assistant coach of Bertram Derthona in Serie A2.

Furthermore, Olivieri has been a trainer at the coaching courses organized by the national and regional Emilia-Romagna CNA since 2011.

These are the words of Andrea Ablatico, president of the Derthona Basketball Lab: ʺI am very happy that this agreement has been signed, the duration of which implies a mutual commitment to work with perspective. Massimo's choice was made in the name of continuity of the work undertaken last season. Olivieri is a coach with a CV that speaks for him: therefore I am sure that together we will get some satisfaction.

Thus Marco Ramondino, head coach of Bertram Derthona: ʺThe choice of Massimo Olivieri as leader of the youth sector represents a clear signal, from the club and the sports management, of how important the entire activity is, not just that of the first team. Max is a proven professional at both senior and youth level and will continue to contribute to the first team. This aspect allows for an increasingly stronger and direct connection for young players compared to senior basketball. Personally, I am very happy with this choice and I believe that the fruits will be seen in the medium term.

This is the thought of Massimo Olivieri: ʺI want to thank Doctor Gavio and all the management for the great expression of esteem they have shown towards me by offering me this role for such a long period of time, which is not a given nowadays. This makes me proud and at the same time will push me to do my best to continue the excellent work done this year by Massimo Bisin. With my role there will be synergy between the staff of the first team and the youth sector: this is a unique project in Italy and strongly supported by both Andrea Ablatico, president of the Derthona Basketball Lab, and Marco Ramondino. I believe that this will be a great added value for the sporting and human growth of the kids.
