The U19 goes to Pesaro for the Legabasket Next Gen Cup
The most prestigious training adventure of the year is about to begin Under 19 of Bertram YachtsTortona. The Juventus team set off towards Pesaro, Where from Thursday 5th to Saturday 7th May will be engaged in IBSA Next Gen Cup 2022. In the fascinating setting of Vitrifrigo Arena the quintet coached by Luca Ansaloni will be involved in the tournament which sees the participation of the U19s of the sixteen clubs Serie A, a competition that returns after a two-year stop due to the pandemic to once again showcase the best of Italian basketball prospects.
Il Derthona is inserted in Group B together with Virtus Segafredo Bologna, Vanoli Young Cremona e Allianz Basketball Trieste, opponents who, like the Bianconeri, will be chasing the only place up for grabs for the Final Four scheduled at Enerxenia Arena di Varese on 13 and 14 May, where the first place will land at the end of this mini-round-robin with one-way matches. Tortona presents itself at the three days on the Adriatic coast with a roster in which many "sub-ages" find space, including the three 2005 class of the U17 Eccellenza - Baldi, Bellinaso and Tambwe - who are fighting with great hope for direct qualification to the National category finals. The head coach Luca Ansaloni"By including boys like those from Borgomanero, the idea was to have a point of comparison within the team to understand where our players are at by comparing themselves with teammates who already have experience in Serie B. In Pesaro we will measure what our level is today and where we want to get to tomorrow, this will be the most important fact of the tournament. The possibility of including three loans from other teams distorts the value of the different teams, so everything needs to be verified there during the matches. It's obvious that Virtus Bologna has tradition as well as being an excellent team that I also know from having coached it, Cremona has many players who have had experience with the first team in Serie A, Trieste has less media exposure because it doesn't compete in the Eccellenza championship but has various elements called up in the national representatives. The U17 Excellence? The fact of being able to qualify for the National Finals on merit, and not by acquired right like the Next Gen, has a different type of value, so the post-Pesaro week will be of great commitment for us and we hope to win the matches that they would allow us to be masters of our destiny".
