The year to come begins with a "chilling" January
Derthona says goodbye to a year, 2013, which will remain in the annals of local basketball for the failed promotion to the semi-final of DNB against Monticelli Brusati in the last sports season and for the title of "winter champion" obtained a day early in that in progress. After the short Christmas break the "lions" are preparing to resume official activity with the delicate away match against Mortara scheduled for next Saturday evening (4 January at 21pm).
In Lomellina there will be the first outing of 2014 for Arioli's boys, called to confirm their end-of-year winning streak with their ninth consecutive success. January foresees a real "tour de force" for Venuto and his associates, who in the meantime could find Gioria back on the field, given the ongoing recovery. In fact, after Mortara, the last round of the first round, the Bianconeri will face the return leg in this order with: Empoli (3rd) at home and Fortitudo (2nd) at the PalaDozza in Piazzale Azzarita in Bologna (for those interested, Derthona will organize a bus at a cost of €25 including ticket) and then again Pavia at the PalaCamagna, with in between (Wednesday 22 January) the first leg of the play-off in Orzinuovi, for access to the Final Four of the Italian Cup.
As for the youth teams awaiting the resumption of the championships, the Under 17s Mattia Naccarato and Flavio Gay will be involved in the Malaguti Tournament of Sant'Arcangelo di Romagna, from 2 to 6 January, with the Novipiù team composed for the occasion as well as from the aforementioned Tortonesi, from the best players of Junior Casale and CAP Genova. In the prestigious tournament our boys will face the best Italian teams in the category such as Stella Azzurra Roma, PMS Moncalieri, Virtus Bologna, Siena, Milan and Bergamo. Coach Gatti's Under 15s will instead be engaged in Genoa from 3 to 5 January in the "Terredimare" tournament which sees many of the best national talents from the 1999 draft on the field. The promising Bianconeri are called to fight against top-level teams such as Virtus Siena, Recanati , Biella and Virtus Genoa. For the occasion, Derthona will be reinforced with elements from Alessandria and Casale.
