Coach Rabolini's corner – Dolomiti Energia Trentino

New championship round for Bertram Derthona, awaiting the challenge against Dolomiti Energia Trentino, scheduled for Sunday 26 November at 19.30 pm at the PalaEnergica Paolo Ferraris. Illustrating the characteristics of the next opponents was Edoardo Rabbolini, assistant coach of the Juventus team:

“After the first rounds of Serie A have passed, we can also paint a more precise picture of our opponents' playing style, outlining their tendencies.

Dolomiti Energia Trentino, coached by Paolo Galbiati, started the season in LBA with an excellent record of six wins in eight matches. The Trentino team has a very strong identity: in attack the primary idea is to open the field and play in wide spaces, favoring perimeter play, thus giving the wingers the opportunity to create advantages starting from the use of the pick'n'roll. The main interpreters of this style of play are certainly Kamar Baldwin (former star of the Bulldogs of Butler University) and Prentiss Hubb (another player from the prestigious College of Notre Dame), the real "engine" of the team: through their hands pass the most of Trento's possessions. Both are both achievers and creators of advantages for their teammates.

In the supporting cast of the role we find 2003 Quinn Ellis, who showed off last year with the Monferrato Basket jersey, protagonist of a good start to the season, and the veteran Toto Forray, veteran of the ride since 2011 in the Trentino capital who took the team from B1 to Serie A.

The game in transition is one of the cornerstones of the team coached by coach Galbiati: the objective is to attack in the first seconds to open up space for the wingers to shoot three-point shots. Trento is the second team in the championship, behind Varese and tied with Naples, in terms of number of attempts from beyond the arc: in this fundamental the ex-matchday player Andrejs Grazulis shines, fresh from a great World Cup with the Latvia shirt and offensive leader of the team, who is going through a great moment of form.

In the wing department we find Davide Alviti, in doubt for the match following the injury suffered in the finishing before the match against Buducnost, Mattia Udom, Myles Stephens and Luca Conti, "glue guys" capable of giving balance and solidity to the wing game squad. Athletic, they are effective in their defensive half of the field and in attack, with play without the ball, they provide an alternative to the perimeter of the offensive "first strikers".

Another fundamental in which Trento excels is offensive rebounds: currently in first place in the Serie A standings in this statistical item, Dolomiti Energia generates extra possessions. Specialists are Paul Biligha and Derek Cooke, but the impact of the wingers who are good at capturing offensive caroms on three-point shots should not be underestimated.

As with the attack, the defense also has a solid identity with clear rules and principles, having to cope with the considerable number of possessions generated. The approach is aggressive towards the ball carrier, the great athleticism of the various players makes Trento the best team in the championship for blocks given, a symptom of the physicality and pressure that the group coached by Galbiati can put on the parquet".
