Coach Galli's corner – Openjobmetis Varese
Openjobmetis Varese will be Bertram Derthona's first opponent in 2023: the match is scheduled for Monday 2 January at 19.30 pm at the Palazzetto dello Sport 'Lino Oldrini'. The challenge was presented by assistant coach Massimo Galli, one of the exes of the race:
“The next away match will see us as protagonists in a historic square and sports hall of our basketball: we are going to Varese animated by the desire to redeem ourselves after the defeat against Treviso. Openjobmetis is the revelation of the first part of the championship and plays a totally different type of basketball from all the other fifteen teams.
The point guard is Colbey Ross, a rookie in the championship, who has his strengths in his speed, ball handling and variety of personal solutions and assists. Alongside him is Brown, already seen in Europe, who is having a positive year and is an excellent three-point shooter. The starting wingers are completed with Woldetensae, a boy who Varese did well to take from Chieti's A2 last year and who is an excellent shooter. The '4' is Johnson, who boasts various European experiences and is one of the revelations of the championship: his athleticism, 1vs1 game and outside shooting are his peculiarities. As '5', Owens, a vertical player, and Caruso, a young player and one of the new names of the tournament, alternate.
Coming off the bench are De Nicolao, a team player who does useful things for the team and who can replace Ross or play alongside him, Librizzi, who grew up in the Varese youth sector and is finding more space with Reyes' injury, Ferrero, a veteran and a great shooter from outside, and Virginio, another young man who came out of the Varese youth sector".
