Allianz Derthona bids farewell to the U17 Eccellenza National Finals in Chiusi (SI): at the Estra Forum, Aquila Basket Trento wins the pre-Quarter Playoff by 80-66. For the Leoni, this concludes a season as vice-champions of Piedmont and as quarterfinalists in a tough interregional group, the only one to have four teams qualified for the finals and present among the best twelve in Italy.
Difficult start for Tortona, while Trento finds many points from beyond the arc for the 10-0 after 2′ with Triggiani and Machetti protagonists. Quaroni’s triple breaks the ice for the black and whites, but Trento still finds a way to increase its maximum advantage with the 15-3 after yet another three-pointer, this time by Barra. The Tortona comeback is signed by Bresciani, 9 points in the first period to favor the return to -4, 20-16 at 8′. Then the end more favorable to the Trentinos, in which the impact from the bench of Niang is highlighted, +4 Aquila at the first mini-break. In the second period Tortona still struggles, conceding too much to the opponents on penetrations, the black and white team does not give up and tries to get back into the game finding excellent shots, even if at the long interval the score is 52-38 for the opponents.
The difference in shooting from the arc continues to be decisive for the Trentino team that increases the gap more and more, the teams enter the last quarter with the score at 69-53 in favor of Aquila. The 12-0 partial at the beginning of the period rekindles the hopes of Derthona that comes back to -4 with 5' to go, also has the opportunity of -1 but misses the attempt and Trento quickly returns to the double digit advantage. The team coached by Vanni Talpo fails in yet another attempt to recover and thus ends its stay in the National Finals.
