The letter from the 5th year of San Giuseppe Primary School to Bertram Derthona

Hello everyone,

we are class 5 aA of the San Giuseppe Primary School in Tortona.

We thank you because you have made us dream throughout your splendid and surprising season, becoming for us a source of great enthusiasm, pride, inspiration and learning.

“Around Italy with Derthona basketball” was the title of our geography course; the capacity of the PalaFerraris and your scores were present in the arithmetic problems; the lion mask has become the art and technology activity for Carnival; your biographies were a research work that many chose for the writing workshop.

Almost all of us play sports (Filiberto, Federico, Alessandro and Sami play in your youth teams, while Marta is one of your cheerleaders), therefore we are great enthusiasts and authentic fans: the comments on your matches in pure "Bar Sport" style they made the sleepy start of Monday morning more agile and we often reflected on the meaning of teamwork, the word "together" and how necessary but rewarding an unpopular word like "fatigue" can be. In this regard, over the course of the year we have commented on several famous phrases, but the best and clearest remains a quote stolen, coincidentally, from a basketball coach which was translated into Italian as follows: "Hard work beats talent, if the talent doesn't work hard."

You are the living example of this phrase and you have made us understand many values that we too, despite being small, try to put into practice in our lives, not just at school.

We greet you with great affection for the joy you have conveyed to us, we wish you (and us) happy, well-deserved holidays while waiting for a new, exciting championship!

Always go lions!!!!

Irene, Carlotta, Filiberto, Tommaso, Federico, Mariasole, Lorenzo, Carlo, Viola, Giorgia, Benedetta, Elisa, Emmalin, Alessandro, Jacopo, Edoardo, Andrea, Sami, Francesca, Marta, Agnese, Andrea and Leonardo together with the teacher Elena

This is the comment of Ferencz Bartocci, CEO of Bertram Derthona: "Dear Elena, girls and boys... Thank you very much for the splendid words and initiatives that you have carried out at school during our first experience in Serie A. We look forward to seeing you all for the start of next season and I really wish you the best in this period of really important school changes. For you too, a phase is coming to an end for the start of a first time... with these conditions it will truly be a success!!!

Best regards and GO LEONI."
