Ten players on target, the clarity of choices in important moments of the match, the ability to resist all of Trento's numerous comeback attempts marked the 2-0 in the series for Bertram Derthona. On Friday at 20pm in Trento the team coached by Ramondino will have their first chance to advance to the semi-finals.
Great balance at PalaEnergica in the first half: after Trento's initial push, Bertram responds with Radošević's triples which are worth the overtaking. At 10' Leoni ahead 18-17. Christon's baskets - the first player to reach double figures in the match - try to break the balance that persisted even at the start of the second period, pushing the team coached by Ramondino up to +9 (39-30) in the 19th minute . After the opponent's mini break of 0-4, the first half ended at 41-34 thanks to Daum's dunk.
In the third quarter, Bertram tries to put a new spin on the game, reaching the double-digit lead several times: at the end of the half, however, Trento finds some plays that allow it to close to 66-58 in the 30th minute. In the final period, Dolomiti Energia made its maximum effort to get back into contact, but Derthona maintained its clarity and - also guaranteeing some extra possessions - implemented its offensive actions while maintaining a safety margin. Filloy's triple restores the double-digit margin (82-72) to the team coached by Ramondino with 100 seconds to go, but Trento - with three-pointers from Lockett and Grazulis - remains in the game. Baskets by Daum and Forray mark the final score: the Lions win 84-81.
Thus coach Marco Ramondino at the end of the race: “The match was once again as tough as we expected, it was important to have grown over the forty minutes and to have played a better match than the first. We were better than on Sunday in managing the different changes of structure that Trento uses, having greater defensive balance allowed us to win on the rebound and enter the attack with more pace. All the players made a good contribution, even today we had a good distribution of minutes: this is very important for the type of team we are and the series that awaits us. We still have to grow in rebounding, because they play close to the basket with the guards and have big men who shoot from outside: it is difficult to have reference points on the dynamic rebounds that are generated. Dolomiti Energia uses defensive switches a lot and is aggressive on the perimeter, so the field opens up to 1vs1s and play near the basket: even in game 1 we had some good solutions at the rim".
