Four out of four! Derthona closed in the best possible way, winning Group D of the 2021 Discovery+ Super Cup presented by Unipolsai unbeaten. In Trento the team coached by coach Ramondino once again convinces with its defensive solidity (opponents held to 33% from the field) and offensive fluidity (21 assisted baskets out of 29 total). Now for the Bianconeri the prestigious match against Virtus Bologna: it will be a debacle Saturday 18 September at 21pm at the Unipol Arena.
Bertram's first quarter: after Trento's initial 4-0, the Bianconeri produced an important break (0-16) made up of defensive intensity and circulation of the ball in attack which set the score at 4-16 in the 10th minute. In the second half, Derthona pushed the accelerator further, reaching a 20-point margin, before Trento reacted at the end of the first half and closed the gap to 26-39.
Upon returning from the locker rooms, the home team reduced the gap to -10 (35-45), but Derthona maintained control of the match and closed the period ahead 45-57. In the last quarter Trento – with two baskets from outside by Bradford – gets to -6 (53-59) before Daum brings the Bianconeri back over the double-digit margin. The match ends with Derthona's victory: the final score is 64-75.
Thus coach Ramondino at the end of the race: ʺWe didn't expect this start to the season in terms of productivity: we are very happy with this. Getting a result even away from home is important, especially in a match that we could have set up better and in which there were ups and downs. The evaluation of the match must however be contextualized with having played 48 hours ago and having faced a long journey yesterday. The ability of the boys to make the right plays in attack and defense even today is an extremely positive aspect that we must hold on to.".
