Justin Tuoyo is a new player for Bertram Derthona
Bertram Derthona announces that he has signed Justin Tuoyo , a 208 cm center , from Egis Kormend (Hungary), with whom he played in the league and in the Fiba Europe Cup.
Born on June 18th 1994 a Fayetteville (Georgia), began his collegiate career in Virginia Commonwealth University, crossing paths with another player who passed through Tortona, Melvin Johnson.
In the summer of 2013 he chose to transfer to the university of Chattanooga, serving a season without competitive commitments in compliance with NCAA regulations: he returned to the field in 2014/15, completing a season averaging 10.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 blocks.
His production grew over the next two seasons (11.1 points in 2015/16, 13.6 points with 6.6 rebounds in 2016/17), which also lead to the conclusion of the university course with a degree in Sports Management.
His European career was short but significant, with a double experience in the Hungarian championship and in the Fiba Europe Cup (17 games, 25', 10 points and 5 rebounds), where he faced Reyer Venezia in the round of 16.
Coach Lorenzo Pansa 's presentation reads : "We're adding a fresh, highly athletic player to a well-rounded and experienced team, capable of playing both big man positions. In college, he demonstrated remarkable toughness and presence in the paint, while during his time in Hungary, he added significant perimeter threat, raising his shooting percentages and demonstrating great passing ability. Justin's selection is based on the qualities he demonstrated in a major competition like the FIBA Europe Cup and the potential and growth prospects of such a young and ambitious player."
