Away defeat for Gulliver Supermercati Derthona against Computer Gross Use Empoli with the final score of 77-69, on the last day of the first leg of the second Play-In Gold phase of the Interregional Serie B of the North-West Conference.
The first half was almost evenly matched, with both teams competing for the score, with the home team helped by the percentage from the arc and closing in the lead. Derthona struggled at the start of the second quarter, slipping to -11, then managing to unlock themselves with Diodati from long range, only following the timeout called by coach Ansaloni at 13'. The Tuscan lead then thinned to -4, with Gulliver returning to the game playing good basketball, finding effective solutions in penetration. Rosselli and Giannone responded for Empoli, bringing the teams to halftime at 39-31 in favor of the Tuscans.
Upon returning to the parquet, the two teams gave life to a start full of triples, with the first two baskets of the quarter by Derthona signed by Josovic. Empoli, however, opened an important partial that took them to +16. The gap was closed again by Gulliver, ending the third quarter at 61-50 for the Tuscans. In the last period, with another partial, the home team gave the definitive lead to the match. Despite the last attempt at a comeback by Derthona, with Fonio coming off the bench, Empoli maintained control and Gulliver thus left the Pala Lazzeri defeated.
The next match for Gulliver will be on Saturday 22 March at 17:30 away against Le Patrie Etrusca San Miniato.
