Gulliver Supermercati Derthona achieved a fundamental victory at the Pala Energica in Casale, moving into the top of the table with 18 points in the Serie B Interregionale Division A championship of the North-West Conference, playing all their chances in the last matches to try to enter the Play-in Offs and mathematically guarantee their safety.
The match played yesterday evening at the Pala Energica in Casale M.to, saw a balanced start, then interrupted by an initial run by the black and white team, thanks to three consecutive triples signed by Albertinazzi – Farias. In the second quarter Derthona maintained control of the match with a double-digit advantage, but Casale's reaction was not long in coming. The home team, led by Di Giuliomaria's baskets, opened an important partial of 14-0 that allowed them to close the quarter with an advantage (38-36 at 20').
Upon returning to the field, the home team continued with the partial opened in the previous quarter, but Derthona reacted with a solid defense, overturning the result with the basket of Lisini and entering the final period of play with a +2.
The last ten minutes saw both teams exchange the lead several times. Gulliver managed to extend their lead by two possessions towards the end of the game, but a basket by the former Tambwe player reopened the game (58-61). Coming out of the timeout, the black and white team lost the ball, giving Casale the opportunity to tie it. Di Giuliomaria's attempt stopped on the second iron, and the game ended with Gulliver winning their ninth championship victory, against Junior Casale with a score of 58-61.
The next appointment for Gulliver Supermercati will be Friday 24 January, where they will host Esse Solar Gallaratese at home at 20:45 on the third to last day of the championship.
