Gulliver Derthona was defeated in the second day of the return of the Play-in Gold of Serie B Interregionale, against Basketball Club Lucca with the final score of 80-85. An initially hard-fought match, but which saw the home team unable to fully recover the gap after the important gap suffered in the third quarter.
Positive start for Derthona, who after the first few minutes of difficulty in the defensive phase, manages to get under the score immediately, managing to bring the match to a draw at halftime thanks to Gatti's basket. Upon returning to the field, however, the black and white team suffers greatly from Lucca's offensive incursions, which inflicts an important partial quarter against Tortona, who falls to a 20-point disadvantage. In response to the bad entrance on the field in the third quarter, the Farias-Fogliato–Diodati–Brizzi–Lisini quintet manages to recover most of the gap, bringing the home team to just two possessions of disadvantage and playing it all out in the final minutes. Gulliver, however, is unable to complete the recovery and worry Lucca. Farias's triple at the buzzer does not change the outcome of the game, which ends with the defeat of the home team Derthona.
Despite the defeat, it is worth highlighting the performances of Diodati and Farias, the best scorers of the match, who recorded 19 points each, contributing significantly to Gulliver's partial counterattack in the final period of the game.
Gulliver Derthona returns to the field on Wednesday 9 April away against Basket Aretina at 19pm.
