Bertram Derthona achieved their first success in the 2023/24 Serie A at the end of a very balanced and complex match. Against Happy Casa Brindisi, the Bianconeri put their heads ahead in the third half and managed to resist all of their opponents' comeback attempts. The ending is tense, but the team coached by Ramondino prevails.

First quarter of balanced play at PalaEnergica: Bertram chases for large stretches, but always remains in contact. At 10' Brindisi ahead 16-17. In the second half, Derthona first suffered the attack from Happy Casa, who exploited their precision three-point shooting, but then reacted above all with a series of individual initiatives. At half-time the game was tied at 37 points.

Upon returning from the locker rooms the match was always in balance, before a gust by Baldasso-Candi at the end of the third half pushed Bertram up to 55-50 in the 30th minute. In the final period of the match, Brindisi crowned the chase and reached 66 points two minutes from the end. Daum's triple brings Derthona back ahead, Laquintana shortens to the line, then Happy Casa has the shot to win the match, but Senglin doesn't score: the Lions win 69-68.

Thus coach Marco Ramondino at the end of the race: “We are happy with the victory, which is what we needed and wanted. I think the way the team played, growing from the second quarter onwards, demonstrated this. It wasn't an easy match, we also made some mistakes, but we deserved to win against a team like Brindisi which, unlike us, has clear and defined hierarchies. Defensively we played a good game on their first options, I think that at the beginning the attacking rebounds and the difficult baskets made in 1 on 1 were important for them. In attack, from the second period onwards we made the right choices, in hope to gain more confidence and fluency and improve the quality of the game. The team was more consistent in defense than in the other games we have played up to this point, even in pre-season.".
