Derthona chooses the talent of Okeke: Leonardo will be part of the first team roster
The Best Under 21 of the Serie A2 Old Wild West 2021/22 will wear the Bertram Derthona jersey next season: Leonardo Arinze Okeke he will be part of the Lions roster.
After having completed the entire process in the youth sector and having debuted in the first team with College Borgomanero, a team with which he won the regional Under 18 Eccellenza title and the Serie C Gold in 2020/21, and having played in Serie B with Mamy Oleggio, Okeke signed a five-year contract with Bertram Derthona last summer.
In 2021/22 he took to the pitch, on loan, wearing the Novipiù JB Monferrato jersey, contributing to the team reaching the Final Eight of the Italian Cup and the playoffs. Leonardo produced 9.4 points and 7.7 rebounds on average, which earned him the award of Best Under 21 of the Serie A2 championship.
In June he participated in the NBA pre-Draft workouts wearing the Atlanta Hawks jersey and made his debut with the senior national team in the friendly played in Trieste against Slovenia, scoring 7 points. Now he is busy at Global Jam of Toronto with the Under 23 national team trained by coach Marco Ramondino, who will then meet again at Bertram Derthona in the new chapter of his career.
