Derthona signs Nicola Mei

Derthona signs Nicola Mei

Derthona announces the hiring of Nicola Mei. Guard born in 1985, 186 cm, he comes from the Roseto Sharks, with whom last season he scored 8 points in 24 minutes of average usage, contributing to the achievement of sixth place in the regular season and the playoff quarter-finals.
Born in Lucca, he spent a good part of his youth career in his own city, before moving to Livorno, on the Don Bosco side. His career continued in Serie B1 with the shirts of Virtus Siena, Florence, Sant'Antimo, Montecatini, Recanati, Ostuni and Perugia, before two years in Serie A in Varese (championship and Eurocup) and Cremona.
In 2015 Mei returned to the A2 series with Latina, and then played last season with the Roseto shirt. Nicola will wear the Derthona shirt number 17.
Thus sports director Miro De Giuli: “We are introducing an element of experience, which we are sure can produce for itself and increase the technical level of the whole team. Nicola will be able to give balance to the various quintets that coach Pansa will field, and be a reference for the numerous young people who will make up our team. We are very satisfied with his arrival and the desire with which he made himself available to Derthona."

These are Nicola Mei's first words: “I am very happy with this choice. Once the experience in Roseto was concluded, it was enough to talk to coach Pansa to definitively unblock the negotiation: his words gave me great enthusiasm, an aspect that is fundamental for me. I'm happy to find Luca Garri again, who "initiated" me in the Don Bosco youth sector many years ago, but also Todor Radonjic, my teammate in Roseto last year, or guys I've always faced against opponents like Spanghero and Quaglia. I am happy with this choice and determined to give my best for Derthona.”
