Return to success for Bertram Derthona, at the end of a race conducted right from the start. At the PalaSerradimigni, without Severini as well as Obasohan due to a muscle strain in his right thigh suffered just before the match, the Bianconeri quickly took command of the score and the pace of the match, first resisting the return of Banco di Sardegna Sassari and then placing the decisive shoulder in the central periods of the match. Bertram will return to the field on Tuesday 31 October at 18pm Italian time in Bursa to face Tofas Bursa in the second day of Group H of the BCL. Of note are the five players in double figures and the first basket in Serie A in the Derthona jersey for Lorenzo Baldi.
Convincing start from Bertram, who reached the double-digit margin in the opening stages thanks to her offensive fluidity. At the end of the half, Sassari closes the gap to 20-22 in the 10th minute. In the second half a new offensive sprint by the Bianconeri updates the maximum gap in the match (+15, 22-37) at 15'. In the final minutes of the first half, the favorable moment continues for the Lions, who further widen the gap and finish ahead 32-49 at halftime.
Upon returning from the locker rooms, Bertram continues her solid and concrete performance, possession after possession, and updates her maximum lead several times, reaching +29 (51-80) in the 30th minute. In the last half Derthona manages the accumulated margin, giving space to all the players on the roster, and wins 74-94.
Coach Marco Ramondino said after the game: “I congratulate the team because we played a great game, especially defensively against Banco di Sardegna's strengths, following what we had prepared during the week. Winning in Sassari is never easy, so we're really happy and want to continue on this path. Coming into the game with a good defensive presence allowed us to gain confidence and rhythm on offense and move the ball well, creating good three-pointers both from set defense and in transition. Our ability to be consistent throughout the game was another plus, as was the good contribution from all the players who took the court. This is something we must strive for in every match. Every team has problems during the weeks, so I believe that we can't truly prepare for games over the course of the season. We need to take inspiration from major competitions like the NBA and EuroLeague to make small adjustments against any opponent we face on the court . ”
