Solid and constant for forty-five minutes, Bertram Derthona wins the final of the 'Carlo Lovari' Trophy. Tomorrow, Saturday 17 September at 21pm, the team trained by coach Ramondino will challenge Umana Reyer Venezia. The Lions, against Virtus Bologna, lead in scoring for a large part of the match, resisting the opponents' overtaking and then extending their lead decisively in extra time.

Brilliant start for Derthona, who took command of the score right from the opening lines of the half: the Lions looked for collective solutions and closed ahead 12-19 in the 10th minute. In the second quarter, Virtus tries to react, also taking advantage of the attacking rebounds, and gradually manages to get closer in the partial. The first twenty minutes are closed by Mickey's basket at the end, which sets the score at 32-34 in favor of the team coached by coach Ramondino.

Upon returning from the locker rooms, the match flows along the lines of balance between two teams who find good offensive solutions: Derthona maintains a minimal margin for large stretches of the period, before overtaking by Virtus in the final stages (59-56). The final quarter continues with the same leitmotiv: both teams put great intensity on the parquet, without either of them managing to produce the decisive break. Thus we reach the final sprint, with Daum responding to Belinelli and impacting the race at 73, 38 seconds from the end. Subsequent attempts to win fail: it's overtime.

In the extra time the team coached by coach Ramondino started better, playing with fluidity in attack and reaching +3 (76-79) halfway through the period. In the following actions, Derthona further widened their gap, thanks to further defensive growth: at the siren the final score was 76-83.

Thus the assistant coach Massimo Galli at the end of the meeting: “We played a solid game and we really liked our ability to react when, in the last quarter, we went down by six points. We moved the ball well, raised the level of defense against the most important players in key moments. We also dominated in extra time. The team confirmed its growth, this is a match that gives us confidence for the future.".
