At the end of a thrilling and high-scoring match, Bertram Derthona was defeated 98-87 by PalaEstra of Siena and ended a decidedly positive regular season in fifth place, with 17 victories and 13 defeats.
Now awaiting the Lions is the challenge against Gsa Udine, fourth in the East group, in a series whose calendar will be made official on Monday morning. Of note is the injury to the right knee of Francesco Stefanelli, who came off halfway through the first quarter due to a sprain, the extent of which will be assessed based on the instrumental tests scheduled for the next few days.
The PalaEstra match remains balanced for more than three quarters, with Bertram Derthona trying to push forward in the first half of the match, in which Johnson (14) and Alibegovic (10) stand out and Soundreef maintains contact with the baskets of Simonovic and Kyzlink.
The teams remain in contact until the end of the third quarter, closed by Quaglia's basket which makes it 66-64. At the last restart of the game, Mens Sana took the best shot, with two bombs from Ebanks and one from Borsato which opened a break (78-69), sewn up by six points from Sorokas and a good impact from the Juventus zone defense which it's worth 78-75 in the 35th minute.
In the final, however, Saccaggi and Kyzlink have the merit of dragging the hosts to a new partial, which is worth the match and which leads Derthona to finish in fifth place in the ranking.
