Ramondino's assistants: Talpo and Di Matteo alongside the coach
Bertram Derthona is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Vanni Talpo for the role of Assistant Coach and with Gianmarco Di Matteo for the role of Assistant Coach of the first team.
The thoughts of Marco Ramondino, head coach of Bertram Derthona: ʺIn addition to the team group, it is important to create a staff capable of supporting the players' needs; having young and competent coaches gives us the opportunity to offer our athletes the best possible training proposal. After the confirmations of Max Olivieri, who has expanded his duties to the youth sector, and Vanni Talpo, an emerging coach who has already been present in the Derthona structure for several years, we add Gianmarco Di Matteo, who is esteemed throughout Italy for his abilities of video analysis and study of opponents as well as the ability to bond with players. In the summer our coaches were involved in training courses which they passed brilliantly: in particular Di Matteo finished in first place in the FIBA International Course which welcomes coaches from all the world federations. This must be a source of pride for the company; Personally, I cannot be happier to count on a large, well-equipped staff with varied skills.
Born on 21/01/1990 in Alessandria, Talpo began his career as a coach at the Il Canestro club of Alessandria: in the 2014/15 season he held the role of assistant to Simone Imarisio in the first team playing in Serie C, while in the two years Subsequently he was head coach of the team that played in the C Gold.
In the two years spent as head coach in C he also led the Under 20 DNG (also at Il Canestro Alessandria) and the Under 18 Eccellenza of Derthona Basket. Starting from the 2017/18 season he joined the staff of the Juventus first team led by Lorenzo Pansa and is head coach of the Under 18 DNG group.
Last year he held the role of assistant coach to Bertram Derthona, first with Lorenzo Pansa and then with Marco Ramondino, and was head coach of the Juventus Under 18 DNG and Olympia Voghera (Lombardy C Silver) with which he reached the playoffs.
In the summer of 2019 he obtained the qualification of National Coach at the end of the course held in Bormio in July.
This is Vanni Talpo's thought: ʺI am very happy with the promotion to assistant coach and, for this, I want to thank the club which allowed me to grow and reach this role which is important to me. I also thank coach Marco Ramondino who renewed his trust in me: I will do everything possible to ensure that this certificate of esteem of his is repaid. We are very excited for the start of the season, we can't wait to get back on the pitch to improve every aspect that didn't work last yearʺ.
Born in Caserta on 07/09/1991, Di Matteo began his career as a coach at LBL Caserta, where he was assistant of the Under 14 Elite in 2009/10. In 2013/14 he was assistant of the Under 17 Elite and, from January to May, he took on the role of Head Coach of Family Basket Caserta (which plays in the Women's Serie B championship).
In the 2015/16 season he was head coach of the Under 14 Elite and assistant of the Under 15 Eccellenza of the One Team Project, while the following year he was head coach of the Under 18 Regional and assistant of the first team of Basket Casapulla (militant in C Silver), as well as taking on the role of Technical Manager of the youth sector of LBL Caserta.
Starting from 2017/18 he joined the technical staff of Junior Casale, working both as a video analyst of the first team led by Marco Ramondino, and coaching the Under 13 and Under 14 groups. Gianmarco is also the Guest House Manager, a role he also maintained last year season in which he is head coach of the Under 15 and Under 16 Eccellenza groups and assistant of the first team coached by Mattia Ferrari.
Holding a degree in Management Engineering, Di Matteo was a video analyst at the meetings of the women's national team coached by Andrea Capobianco (in 2015/16 and 2016/17). He now arrives at Bertram Derthona to start a new chapter in his career.
ʺI am very happy and excited to start this new adventure in an ambitious club – says Di Matteo – driven by a strong passion. After spending two important and very significant years at Junior Casale, arriving in Tortona is a great opportunity to grow and improve further. I therefore thank all the management and coach Marco Ramondino for giving me the opportunity to be hereʺ.
