A leonine Orsi Derthona conquers Scafati's PalaMangano by 68-75 and redeems the defeat suffered on Wednesday in Siena with the character and intensity of the best days.
After a Scafatese-style first quarter, fueled by Chase Fischer's perfect quarter (16 points, with a sumptuous 4/4 from three points), which put the home team ahead 24-17 in the 10th minute, and then on the 30th -19 in the 13th minute, Derthona takes control of the operations.
A decisive defensive turn of the screw allows the Lions to regain their momentum, materialized with two baskets from Garri and free throws from Mascherpa. Greene contributes with four points in a row, interspersed with the recovery with an assist from Ricci, and the draw on the wings of a partial of 1-12 is a done deal (31-31 at 18'). The Orsi wave continues with triples from Reati and Mascherpa, punctuated by Baldassarre's 2/2 from the line to make it 33-37 at the interval.
The third quarter opens with two long-range baskets by Greene and Garri, for Derthona's first double-digit lead (35-45 in the 22nd minute); Greene crushes the 35-47 in transition, before Scafatese's reaction. The Lions try to definitively get their hands on the match by first maintaining the lead (47-56 at 30'), and then pushing up to 49-63 at 33'. Givova finds the strength to return to the match, also helped by her audience and her more competitive elements. The yellow and blues first reduced the lead to a single digit, and then reached -3 on numerous occasions. In the last hundred seconds, however, Glenn Cosey's hand does not tremble: the American clears the line (8/8), allowing Derthona to maintain control of the proceedings until the final siren.
