Born on 20 June 1996 in Loreto (AN), Severini grew up in the youth sector of Virtus Siena before moving to Pistoia, a team with which he reached the DNG National Finals in 2015, being included in the best quintet thanks to 16 points and 8.9 rebounds on average which he recorded in the event. He made his debut in Serie A with the Tuscan team in the same year, before moving to Casale Monferrato.

In Piedmont he remained from 2016 to 2018 in the team coached by Marco Ramondino, who Luca now finds again in Tortona, contributing to the achievement of important results including the promotion playoff final of 2018 lost at the hands of Trieste who were then promoted to Serie A. After returning in Pistoia, at the beginning of 2019 Severini accepted the court of Treviso, with which he achieved victory in the A2 Italian Cup following the victory in the final against Fortitudo Bologna and, subsequently, promotion to Serie A at the end of the final series won by 3-0 against Capo d'Orlando.

Luca remained in Veneto, where he averaged 2.7 points in the matches played in the first part of the year.

Severini, with the Italian national team, played in the Under 18 European Championships in 2014 (in Turkey), which ensured Italbasket's qualification for the Under 19 World Championships the following year. The player born in 96 also played in the Under 20 European Championships in 2016, an event which took place in the Czech Republic. Now Luca arrives at Bertram Yachts Derthona to start a new chapter in his career.
