Italy | June 5 1995

Born in Lakeville (Minnesota) on June 5, 1995, Macura began his career at Lakeville North High School, showing off his scoring skills in his senior year, finishing with 32.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. These performances earned him the interest of some of the most important colleges in the nation: JP chose Xavier (Big East Conference), where he completed his four-year university course.

In his second season at College, the new Juventus player was voted Sixth Man of the Year by Big East Conference coaches for his energy and the 9.4 points and 2.6 rebounds he produced coming off the bench. A three-point shooting specialist (over 40% from beyond the arc), Macura has been the protagonist of the team's successes in the last two university years: in particular, in his senior year, he contributed to the team reaching first place West Regional of Xavier's March Madness, then eliminated in the second round by Florida State.

In 2018 he then signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets, also playing with the Greenboro Swarm (G League) producing 16.4 points on average. JP then made his NBA debut on January 2, 2019, in the game against the Dallas Mavericks. In 2019/20 he signed with the Canton Charge, a franchise affiliated to the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring 14.2 points in 29 games played. On February 9, 2020, he signed a ten-day contract with the Cavs.

In the 2020/21 season, Macura signed in Turkey at Afyon Belediye, taking the field alongside Chris Wright, who he now finds in Tortona in the new stage of his career.
