VOGHERA. Heart, will, good spacing and great defense. Tortona wins game 2 against Trieste (75-68) with a collective display of character and depth. Cavina puts Garri back in the quintet together with Sanna, Ricci, Greene and Cosey (Alviti is still missing due to his finger injury), while Dalmasson chooses Prandin, Green, Da Ros, Parks and Cavaliero. Derthona starts strong immediately with a bomb from Greene and a penetration from Sanna. Garri also scores in the low post, Green cuts well under the basket. After six minutes the Lions lead 7-3 with a determined approach to the match. Initially Trieste doesn't have the fluidity of the game and the percentages of game 1, Greene misses two open shots, after 5'30'' Tortona is ahead 10-4. In the second half of the quarter, Alma immediately returned to the match. Garri responds to Cavaliero from long range. Dalmasson puts Cittadini on after not using him in game 1 and the big man scores 4 points as soon as he enters the field. 1'25'' from the siren the score is tied. The period ends 17-16 for Trieste.

The second quarter begins and Parks volleys the ball, Baldasso maintains the hot hand of the first match and scores two consecutive bombs: Trieste tries to escape on +6. Dalmasson uses Simioni who scores immediately from long range, Tortona reacts with a basket and two free throws from Garri. Dalmasson loses Green to a sprained ankle, Cosey stops well from three and Tortona comes back down by a point (26-27). A bomb from Greene and two free throws from Garri (12 points in the first half) put Tortona back in the lead (32-31). The first half ends 36-35 with a shot at the buzzer by Greene that ends up on the second iron.

The third period begins and Baldasso shoots again from long range (3/3), Tortona immediately received an excellent contribution from Mascherpa (he will score 10 points in the quarter). Greene scores a three-pointer and to stop the inertia (partial 5-0 for the Lions) Dalmasson calls a time-out. Tortona finds good spacing in attack and concedes little to Alma in defense. A basket in the paint area and five free throws by Cosey bring the Lions to their maximum lead (55-48). Three points from Bossi and a post move from Cittadini and Trieste returns. Greene tries to give the shoulder at the end of a bad attack by Tortona, Cosey scores two free throws and the Lions are back up by 8 points. Once again Alma doesn't give up and the quarter ends with a three point lead for Tortona (63-60).

Dalmasson gets a technical and the first points of the last ten minutes are a free throw from Cosey. The match remains very intense: Garri goes around Parks and scores, five minutes from the end Tortona remains ahead by 2 points although Cucci injures his ankle. Baldasso puts Trieste back in front with a long shot, but Garri scores under the basket (3' from the end, 68-67 for the Lions). Cittadini is sent to the line, but makes only one free throw, then Cosey takes the stage and scores the bomb that makes game 2. Parks has the last chance, but misses the two free throws. He goes the other way and Mascherpa's hand doesn't tremble. It ends 75-68.

Demis Cavina: Given that we do not know the extent of Cucci's injury, which in any case will not be minor, we have written another historical page of Derthona. I wouldn't have wanted to come to the press room, I didn't see Facebook when attention was drawn to a particular newspaper headline in recent days. After game 1 I only read technical-tactical comments and I didn't read that Alviti and the heart that the boys always put in were absent. Those who make the headlines in the newspaper "La Stampa" don't realize the work the boys have done: I got tired. I have never seen such disunity in terms of information as those who follow this team. I've been swallowing for three years. I hope that too future someone tell me technically what we need to do. Everyone knows the efforts of the staff and the company and I continue to see criticism and technical opinions. I think the guys only deserve applause. They have been working hard since August and reading articles that don't give them credit is very annoying.
