Forward Piedmont! Super season for the youth teams of our region
With the dispute in Piombino, last week, of the Under 17 Eccellenza National Finals, the youth basketball season ended which now, as usual, gives way to the various national teams, Under and otherwise.
We at Derthona Basketball Lab would like to quickly summarize how Piedmont basketball has distinguished itself at every level with its excellent youth teams.
Our most sincere congratulations for this splendid season go, in absolute chronological order, first and foremost to Collegno Basket and GGS Basketball Project (a rare and virtuous example of synergy, born from an agreement between BC Gators, Granda College Cuneo and Pallacanestro Saluzzo), who placed among the top 8 in Italy at the Under 15 Eccellenza National Finals in Pescara.
It was then the turn of our friends/rivals from College Basketball Borgomanero to fly the Savoy flag with a sensational back-to-back as Italian Vice Champions at the Under 19 Excellence National Finals in Agropoli.
In Piombino, however, we have to express a little more satisfaction because in the fantastic fourth place in the Under 17 National Finals of Pallacanestro Vado (you will forgive the out of region, but we have been collaborating directly with our Ligurian friends for years now) the award for top scorer (and inclusion in the best quintet of the event) stands out for "our" Andrjia Josovic.
Last but not least, we want to say a small self-congratulatory “well done” to ourselves and our Under 19 Eccellenza boys , who, just 10 days ago, were the only team entirely made up of youth sector players among the seniors, able to achieve a well-deserved promotion to the interregional B league.
Different realities, common philosophies that demonstrate how even in Piedmont, where we work with coherence, competence and dedication for the kids, the results arrive as a natural consequence, without being an "at all costs" objective.
Forward Piedmont.
Next year we will work to do better.
