Derthona achieved the second away victory of its championship by beating Fmc Ferentino away (80-82) with a performance of depth and character, fundamental aspects on which to build the comeback which later proved decisive for the fate of the match. The Bianconeri were able to manage the home team's explosive start, skilful in immediately taking the lead to 23-13 at the first siren and then to 34-21 in the 14th minute, driven by the baskets of Imbrò (10) and Benvenuti, author of two baskets at the start of the second quarter. Derthona has the merit of not losing heart and, maintaining high defensive intensity, managed to regain control of the match in just a few minutes. Two consecutive long-range baskets scored by Cosey and then by Greene definitively restored the inertia to Derthona, who at 34-27 gained confidence and found the energy to make an impact. Fueled by the defense, the Juventus partial continues with Conti's three-point basket and that of Giampaolo Ricci who, 40" from the break, is worth the overtaking, for 34-35 Orsi.
Carnovali closes the Bianconeri to 0-14, scoring the three-point basket at 37-35 on which the teams go to a long break, but Derthona is in rhythm and the overtaking is sealed by the baskets of Reati and Garri at the start of the third quarter it is the decisive one. Alviti gets on the scoresheet with a triple at 51-56, two baskets from Cosey and Greene at the start of the fourth quarter are worth +10 (55-65). Alviti again keeps Derthona's escape alive (59-70 in the 34th minute), before the final blow of Fmc50. Two "bombs" in rapid succession from Musso and Gilbert reignite the match and the stadium in the 35th minute (65-70), transforming the match into an intense face-to-face clash. Derthona always manages to maintain a few points of advantage, countering Fmc's attacks blow for blow until the final minute. Gigli scores 78-79 from the line at 18”, Cosey and Carnovali exchange two points for 80-81 with Greene appearing on the line. The American scores the first (80-82), but misses the second; the rebound falls to Sanna, but the Juventus winger fails to score from the line with 6" to go. The home team's last attempt is entrusted to Raymond, but the American big man's shot that would have taken the match to overtime is long on the second iron. Derthona thus celebrates a more precious success than ever, the result of the determination and compactness demonstrated by coach Cavina and his boys.
