Coach Fioretti: "A great win against a strong team. Congratulations to the boys."
Mario Fioretti is visibly satisfied with his third league win in four games, which also saw Trapani's unbeaten run come to an end.
"It was definitely a great win against a very strong, well-coached team, with a game that was honestly difficult to stop. In terms of physicality, athleticism, and talent, they're one of the most dangerous teams in the league," Bertram Tortona coach Derthona said at the press conference, commenting on the Bianconeri's 108-100 victory over the Sicilians. "We did a good job offensively, moving the ball and finding interior solutions that weren't easy. We had problems rebounding, especially at the start, but we later fixed that and tied that statistic. Kudos to the guys who, even when they were down, kept their heads up and finished on a high."
After scoring 107 points in their first home game, the team did even better in their second outing in front of their home crowd: "Scoring over 100 points is nice. We wanted to, and we managed to, maintain a high pace after defending, not going all-out but finding the right mix between open court and half-court shooting options. Obviously, being aggressive on the ball, to be honest, we struggled a bit on the rebound at times, giving away a few easy baskets. We'd like to play like that on offense and do better on defense. Tommaso [Baldasso] and Christian [Vital] played a very important game, even carrying the team on their shoulders at times, and it's undeniable that you also need individual play to win games like this."
Arturs Strautins was back on the scoresheet for the first time after his long absence: "Arturs is on the right track, it will take another two or three weeks to see him back on the pitch, if all goes well. He's slowly returning to the team," Fioretti concluded.
