Here is Bruno Mascolo, new reinforcement of Bertram Derthona

Bertram Derthona is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Bruno Mascolo, a point guard born in '96 who played in Serie A2 in Jesi last season.

CAREER – Born in Castellammare di Stabia (NA) on 04/03/1996, Mascolo took his first steps in the Basket Team Stabia and at the age of fifteen he made his debut in Serie C with the Nuova Polisportiva Stabia shirt.

In 2012 he moved to PMS Torino, with which he completed his youth career; in 2013/14 the point guard is part of the roster available to coach Stefano Pillastrini who plays in the DNA Gold championship. In the following season - still wearing the same shirt - he won promotion to Serie A following the 3-2 success in the playoff final against Agrigento.

He made his debut in the top flight with the Turin shirt in the 2015/16 season and then concluded the year in Serie A2 with the Agrigento shirt, with which he reached the playoffs, surrendering to Fortitudo Bologna - then defeated in the promotion final by Brescia - by 3- 0 in the quarterfinals.

Bruno began the following season wearing the Latina jersey, with which he played eleven matches, before moving to Mens Sana Siena where he finished the year. In 2017/18 the point guard played for Cuore Basket Napoli, with whom he produced the best season of his career in terms of points - 12 - scored on average. Last year Mascolo played in Jesi, in the East Group of the Serie A2 championship, scoring 10.7 points per game to which he added 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists.

Mascolo's experiences with the Italian youth national teams are also significant: in particular in 2014 the new Bertram player won gold, with the Under 18 team coached by coach Andrea Capobianco, in the prestigious 'Albert Schweitzer' Tournament in Mannheim , following the 86-73 victory in the final against the USA; in 2015 the player continued his career in the youth national teams with the Under 20 jersey.

Bruno is currently playing in the FIBA 3X3 U23 Nations League with Italy and, from 3 to 11 July, he will take part in the Universiade scheduled in Campania - in Naples, Avellino, Cercola and Aversa - with the national team coached by Andrea Paccariè.

Mascolo is also a university student and is enrolled in the Faculty of Dentistry at the 'Luigi Vanvitelli' University of Naples.

This is the thought of Marco Ramondino, head coach of Bertram Derthona: ʺBruno is coming off a positive season on an individual level and has the ambition to confirm himself in a different context, in which team results are combined with good personal performances. For us this is an important addition in the external department both in terms of physicality and athleticism and in terms of ability to take advantages. His versatility, coming off the bench, will allow us to have different structures during the matches. The enthusiasm he showed us from the first conversations we had immediately infected us and represented a further sign of the fact that Mascolo could be the right choice for Bertram Derthonaʺ.

These are the first words of Bruno Mascolo: ʺI'm really happy to arrive in Tortona because it was the opportunity I was looking for after two positive years on a personal level but difficult as a team. I will have an important role in a roster that wants to do well; furthermore, the relationship with coach Marco Ramondino, who I found again after having worked together with the national team, was one of the main reasons why I decided to accept this proposalʺ.
