EA7 Emporio Armani Milano-Bertram Derthona: the precedents and exes of the match

EA7 Emporio Armani Milano-Bertram Derthona: the precedents and exes of the match

Great challenge at the Forum for Bertram Derthona, which will challenge theEA7 Emporio Armani Milan in the match scheduled for 17pm on Sunday 14 January. The match is valid for the 1st return day of the 2023/24 Unipolsai Serie A championship.

Sunday's match will be the seventh meeting, among all Serie A competitions, between the two teams: Bertram is still looking for the first, historic and prestigious, success against the team coached by Ettore Messina.

In the first match ever in Serie A, played on 9 January 2022 at the Forum, the Bianconeri were the protagonists of a great start (4-19 at 10') before suffering the opponent's comeback, which earned them a 72-60 victory. A month later, on 20 February, the two teams met again in the Italian Cup final in Pesaro: after three quarters of great balance, it was Gigi Datome's three-point baskets that dug the decisive furrow for Milan's victory (78 -61). Milanese success also in the return match of 2021/22: at the PalaEnergica the guests took command of the match in the second half, extending to 64-81 at the final siren.

Similar outcome - double success in Milan - also in 2022/23: the first leg on this occasion too was played at the Forum, with Bertram arriving in Milan with the possibility of finishing the first round in first place. EA7 led that match from the start and won 72-60, becoming the number 1 seed in the Final Eight of the Italian Cup. In the return match, in Casale, the team then coached by Ramondino was the protagonist of a great comeback that thrilled the crowd, but the guests controlled the final return and won 75-77.

In this year's first leg, played on 22 October in Casale Monferrato, after a first half largely led by the team coached by Messina, Bertram recovered and led in scoring for a large part of the second half, only being defeated in the final from the plays – on both halves of the pitch – by Poythress.

There are three former players in the match, two in the Juventus ranks and one in the Milan ranks: it's about Thomas Baldasso, in red and white from 2021 to 2023 (winner of two Scudetti and one Italian Cup), Leon Radosevic (in Milan from 2011 to 2013) e Giampaolo Ricci, in Tortona in A2 in 2016/17.

A very fascinating challenge is approaching: at the EA7 Emporio Armani Milano and Bertram Derthona stage Forum.
