Bertram Derthona was defeated in the opening match of the Under 17 National Finals Eccellenza di Mantova: the team coached by Ansaloni followed Cantù in the score from the first quarter, trying to close the gap several times before suffering the decisive opponent's attack after the break. Tomorrow at 19pm the second match of the group, against the winner of Umana Reyer Venezia-Virtus Pallacanestro Roseto (two-ball at 19pm today).
The first minutes of the match were favorable to Cantù, who tried to play at a high pace, displaying good intensity in defence: Derthona resisted the break and remained in contact thanks to collective solutions. At 10' the guests lead 14-20. In the second period the Lombard team expanded their lead beyond double figures, before suffering the Juventus reaction which resulted in -6 (30-36) in the 18th minute. In the final stages of the first half, Cantù produced a new mini-partial that set the score at 30-40 at half-time.
Upon returning from the locker rooms, after a few minutes of balance, the team coached by Ansaloni suffered a new advance from their opponents, who widened the gap in the score. At the third buzzer the Lions are down 49-65. In the last fraction the match follows the trend of the previous thirty minutes: Cantù prevails 57-76.
