Derthona Bball Lab: the Juventus youth season begins
The 2017-18 competitive season for the youth sector of Derthona Basket is about to start.
Over the last few years, under the aegis of the satellite company Derthona Basketball Lab, an attempt has been made, on the one hand, to expand the number of participants in mini-basketball courses, promoting basketball activity also with various initiatives in schools in the city and surrounding areas and on the other, to raise the level of participation of its youth teams in the various federal championships, also thanks to collaboration with other clubs in the province and surrounding areas. Hence the management's choice to enroll three teams in the Excellence level competitions for next season to test the actual potential of the Tortona prospects.
Analyzing the individual categories, the conspicuous activity planned for the Under 18s stands out (reserved for the 2000 and 2001 years) where Derthona stands out for participating in practically all the organized species championships. A team under coach De Ros will participate in the Regional championship, a team from Valenza entrusted to coach Paolo Mossi will take part in the Elite championship, while the leading team will be the Excellence level team led by Vanni Talpo, called upon to make a double effort given that, with some reinforcements (including Dario Gay, Massimo Taverna, Pilati and Billi), he will also compete in the Serie C Gold wearing the Il Canestro di Alessandria vest.
With the inclusion of new players such as Cremaschi, Gallini and Bosetti from Voghera, the aim is to continue the experience of last season, improving results at "junior" level and gaining experience at "senior" level, also taking into account that some players such as Apuzzo and Yahya have been added to the A2 series squad. The Under 18 Eccellenza team will be the first Juventus team to start the competitive season with the championship debut scheduled for next Thursday 28 September in Collegno at 19.30 pm.
The Derthona Basketball Lab will focus on the Eccellenza championships also in the Under16 and Under15 championships, both led by coach Paolo De Ros. For the Under 16s it is a retry after last season, trusting in the arrival in the category of the 2002 group returning from the victory of the Piedmontese Elite championship last year.
For the Under 15s (2003 draft admitted 2004), however, it will be a real leap forward, given the transition from the regional championship held last season. The bet of the Juventus management takes shape with the introduction of new forces in De Ros' team, such as Bosich from Novi Ligure, Rota from Nizza Monferrato and the native of Broni Emanuelli.
The Under 14s (born in 2004 admitted in 2005), after a season full of fruitful experience in the Elite category, are instead called to perform in the Regional tournament, entrusted to the new guidance of coach Gaudio. The final debut is expected in the competitive championships for the Under 13s (2005 draft admitted 2006) at the Elite level, also under the orders of coach Gaudio, after the good things shown at the Beginners (and Eaglets) level in the past provincial mini-basketball tournaments.
In the meantime, the traditional minibasketball courses open to recruits from 2012 to 2006 began. Registration remains open with the possibility of trying for free for the first two weeks.
