Derthona Basket and Entsorga present the 2/20 CO21 Report
Attention to the green and sustainability are important in the daily activity of Bertram Derthona, always attentive and ready to convey messages and develop initiatives with a strong social value. The project also falls within this scope “Let's crush the CO2", which the Club has developed over the last few months together with Entsorga, a partner who analyzed the consumption data provided by the Company relating to the season 2020/21.
Today, at the Romita Hall of the Municipality of Tortona, who is thanked for the kind concession, was presented on CO balance sheet2 2020/21, which contains both the data relating to that year and the objectives for the future that the Club intends to achieve.
The conference began with the speech of Marco Picchi, President of Bertram Derthona, who was followed by those of Gian Francesco Galanzino, CEO of Entsorga, e Ferencz Bartocci, CEO of Bertram Derthona. The institutional closure was entrusted to the words of the Mayor Federico Chiodi.
These words Marco Picchi: “We thank Entsorga and Gian Francesco Galanzino who is one of our most loyal partners. Today is a special day, because June 29th will remain in the memory of all of us as the anniversary of Game 5 of 2021 which brought us to Serie A for the first time. Derthona Basket has grown a lot on the pitch in recent years, for the level of the players, the opponents and the competitions in which we participate, but also off the pitch. Particularly due to the number of partners who have joined our project. With Entsorga the link between the Company and the company was born from the sharing of aspects and projects: this translates into having our people participating in projects branded by our partners, and our partners coming to our matches. Today I once again express my appreciation for the people who open up worlds we don't know, as in the case of Dr. Galanzino, with whom we found ourselves aligned on the theme of sustainability which is at the center of the industrial plan of the Gavio Group and therefore also of our Company. I want to think that this is only the first step in a series of initiatives that Derthona Basket and Entsorga will implement in the coming years".
Thus Gian Francesco Galanzino: “We developed this initiative by enthusiastically involving Derthona Basket in an idea that is revolutionary for the area: becoming carbon zero. The Club immediately understood the importance of this project, structured in three steps: first of all, understanding how much Derthona Basket is impacting the planet, through the collection of consumption data for the 2020/21 season; then neutralize the footprint that cannot be reduced thanks to internationally certified carbon credits and donated by Entsorga to "crush CO2” and become Carbon Neutral. Together with Derthona Basket we have finally defined the objectives for 2021/22 and the KPIs to reduce emissions in 2022/23. But what does it mean for the layman during the work the team eliminated the 35 tons of CO emissions2eq produced? It's as if Bertram Derthona Basket had planted 1.600 trees on an area equal to 34 basketball courts! I am happy and confident that Derthona Basket can play a great role in the field of sustainability to make the area even more attractive. Even as the Entsorga Group, we have always paid maximum attention to the issue of sustainability: we have just decided to publish the sustainability report for 2022, a document that is not required of us by law, but which is essential for us to create in order to transparently describe our commitment within the scope of ESG criteria”.
The comment of Ferencz Bartocci: “The first time we met with Marco and Gian Francesco, we were immediately fascinated by the idea of involvement as a company. During the pandemic we started with the 'PiantiAMO il futuro' project, while on the pitch we tried to entertain our fans who couldn't follow us to the arena. It all culminated with the splendid evening of June 29th in Turin and the party in the city. Working with the idea of safeguarding the environment is an absolute priority, we are operating in a concrete way: at the headquarters, thanks to one of our partners Gruppo Digit, we have replaced all the printers with cold printers, we are modifying the car fleet with Jeep cars plug in that have the possibility of traveling in electric mode. We think that with small gestures we can change the world, we want to involve the first team in this activity by working with communication pills. We are also studying the optimization of trips to Casale Monferrato for our fans, trying to do everything needed in the right way without waste. We thank the Gavio Group, our partners, those who work at the club and all the fans who support us with passion. The Club wants to involve the environment at 360 degrees, on a social level, the sports club and the local voluntary associations. We are available to everyone, with our sounding board we can help and help each other, we hope that LBA and other companies will also follow the input we have given with the project developed together with Entsorga".
The project presented today therefore represents the first step shared between Derthona Basket and Entsorga, two local entities united by the same vision and attention to the issues of green and sustainability.
