Derthona returns from Treviso with a heavy defeat 86 thanks to the lack of the right concentration and the consequent general submissive attitude of the Bianconeri. Even though we were aware that the result of the race mattered little for our team's season, we hoped for a surge of pride from Gioria & his teammates called to face the top of the class in the legendary Palaverde of Villorba which, filled with 58 spectators, should have represented the right stimulus in itself .
Instead, right from the start Derthona went into crisis, suffering the dominance of the home team especially under the boards where Rotondo was in a waning mood and after 4 minutes the gap was already in double figures. A timid reaction from the guests comes with Galloway from outside and Valenti in the paint, but the substance changes little, throwing important balls to the wind and committing venal errors on free throws. The first half ends at 25 for De Longhi who takes advantage above all of the 14 rebounds against only 18 for the Tortona team.
In the second quarter, Derthona could take advantage of the bonus that Treviso receives after just 4 minutes of play but it's not really a day for Cavina's boys and with Fantinelli and Fabi from long range, the Trevisos extend to +20. The Bianconeri couldn't find the net at all (8/30 in the twentieth) and at half-time the score was 45, one of the worst performances of the season in terms of points scored in a half.
At the start of the second half a bomb from Simocelli gives some hope but all the limits under the basket are accentuated: not even Strotz's contribution serves to limit the damage and soon the 30 point gap arrives. Cavina shakes incites the pressing of his team and recovers until 62 but Fantinelli is in the day and pushes the guests back into oblivion by closing the third quarter on 40. In the last quarter the atmosphere becomes "friendly" with the defenses giving up, the public cheering, the Treviso president becoming leader of the ultras with the local fans calling for a return to the top flight and many of the guests leaving the Treviso sports hall early.
De' Longhi thus celebrates their mathematical access to the Basket Recanati playoffs, beating Treviglio after extra time. The victory is a must: it is necessary to defend the 7th place in the standings threatened by Scafati and Chieti; it is due to a club that has done its utmost to make a good impression in this unforgettable championship, but above all the thousand fans who have always filled the Tortona sports hall deserve it, who will be called to take to the pitch at the end of the match, to celebrate another historic season with the team, which saw us as protagonists and which will allow us to participate in the 2015 season in the unique A16.
