Derthona Basket Board of Directors press release

Regarding the statements of Mr. D'Orta appeared today in the media, we would like to point out some aspects of this grotesque story.

For the first time in the over fifty-year history of Derthona Basket we find ourselves forced to descend to such a less than "noble" level.

In fact, we have conducted our Company always inspired by the principles of respect, fairness and elegance towards all the members that we have had the pleasure of including among our ranks.

It is precisely by following these principles that we "forgave" D'Orta, during our collaboration, some absences motivated by personal reasons or some behaviors that were not in keeping with mutual respect in the workplace.

We preferred to focus on the commitment made and, for this reason, on 7 June last, we proposed the contractual renewal to D'Orta after a formal conversation with our CEO Luigi Fassino.

Following the acceptance of this proposal, D'Orta began to collaborate with the general manager and head coach to plan the new competitive season, showing great enthusiasm for the agreement reached.

On 20 June, D'Orta participated in an extended Board of Directors meeting (in the presence of 14 people!) in which his duties for the following season were formalized and the economic budgets for the entire structure were handed over to him.

On June 21st, in the press conference to present the season (available on our website), D'Orta's presence in the management staff was reiterated in the presence of the then Sports Director and many local journalists present at the meeting.

The following day, 22 June, D'Orta met with general manager Picchi for an operational meeting regarding the logistical organization of the first month of the season, agreeing on the apartment that would be assigned to him.

Only after the explicit request to sign the contract (already defined and agreed in content), D'Orta objected to the need for reflection following another job offer received.

Naturally, a copy of the emails sent between our structure and D'Orta up to June 22nd are kept in our corporate archive.

For Derthona Basket this unpleasant story ends with these lines, in the hope of not having to read further inaccurate reconstructions from the person concerned
