Demis Cavina is “Coach of the Month” for January 2017 by the National Basketball League
Demis Cavina was named the best coach of January by the League for the West group of A2. Derthona Basket remained undefeated in January with four victories in as many games, as did Adriano Vertemati, coach of Remer Treviglio. Cavina won the recognition for having faced a more demanding calendar, considering the overall score of the teams faced. Orsi opened 2017 by winning on the Legnano pitch, and then prevailed within friendly walls against Latina. Then came the external success in Rome on the Eurobasket, and then closed the month with the home success on Agropoli. In the first month of the first round Cavina had already achieved this record (4-1), but the recognition went to coach Ferrari from Legnano for the same reasons that now reward the Derthona coach. «It is very pleasing to receive this recognition which I share with the group of guys who have achieved these results on the pitch, with the club having always had great faith in the work of a very high level staff – says Cavina – The head is always turned towards the future, so we take this recognition as a starting point for the third part of the championship which we will face with the same mentality we have had so far", comments the coach who continues explaining the growth that the team has had in the last period, especially in the young players. «Certain results are achieved only thanks to weekly work. For many players this year was their debut, but thanks to the intensity with which they work and the determination to achieve their goals, the boys are playing like veterans."
