Bruno Mascolo: ʺTo Tortona to make the leap in quality. Ramondino was important in my choice
Bruno Mascolo , a new Bertram player, made his first contact with Tortona . The 96-born point guard arrives at the Bianconeri after having faced Bertram several times over the past few years. In this regard, Mascolo recalls how "all the games I played against Derthona were difficult because they have always been a strong and difficult team. I don't know the city very well, but having lived in Turin, I know the Piedmont region well: life here is good ."
Fresh from his years at Napoli and Jesi, Bruno saw Bertram as an important opportunity to seize for his growth path: in this sense, the player explained how Derthona " represents the best team to try to make a qualitative leap. I immediately accepted the offer because the club is ambitious and has shown that it wants to invest a lot in me ."
In Tortona, the point guard reunites with coach Marco Ramondino, with whom he shared some experiences with the youth national teams: his presence was important in his decision to wear the black and white jersey because " I know Marco well and I know how he coaches and how he treats players. Furthermore, speaking with him, I was able to understand his technical vision of me: this aspect was influential in my choice ."
One of Mascolo's most significant experiences was winning the Albert Schweitzer Tournament in Mannheim in 2014. It's a prestigious and important competition, where the world's best prospects compete: this " allows each player to measure their level of growth ." The victory in the final against the USA, with a score of 86-73, was "one of the best feelings of my life ," continues the new Bertram player, " because winning that tournament wearing the Italian jersey was something spectacular ."
Mascolo is currently competing for Italy in the FIBA 3X3 Nations League Under 23, a competition that helps Bruno "increase the physicality of my game and absorb contact better. Playing 3x3 also allows me to refine and improve my 1-on-1 skills ."
In July, the point guard will be competing for Italy at the Universiade in Campania: another major event, involving over 8000 athletes from various disciplines. Bruno explains, " Experiencing the Universiade will be a wonderful experience: we're playing at home and have a fairly competitive team. I hope the home field advantage can help us achieve a good result ."
Besides being a basketball player, Mascolo is also a university student enrolled in the Faculty of Dentistry at the Luigi Vanvitelli University of Naples. The decision to continue his studies matured "since I was nineteen, because I believe it is important to have second paths in life. I am very convinced and confident in the choice I made, even if the exams, as is normal, are proceeding a bit slowly. I like studying dentistry because my father has a dental practice: when I retire from playing, I will be very happy to continue his business ."
