Bertram Derthona Promotes “The Boy in Pink Pants” to Support the Fight Against Bullying
Derthona Basket is once again taking the fight to bullying, this time through the cinema. The Serie A team Bertram Derthona will be the star of the promotional campaign for the film " The Boy with the Pink Pants ," in cinemas from November 7th. For their home match on Sunday, November 3rd at the PalaEnergica Paolo Ferraris in Casale Monferrato against Banco di Sardegna Sassari , the sixth matchday of the top-flight championship, the Juventus players will wear pink shorts during the pre-match warmup, while the trailer will be shown on the arena's giant screen.
Presented at the Giffoni Film Festival and the Rome Film Fest, directed by Margherita Ferri and produced by Eagle Pictures and Weekend Films with a screenplay by Roberto Proia, the film is inspired by the true story of fifteen-year-old Andrea Spezzacatena, who took his own life on November 20, 2012 after being bullied and cyberbullied by his schoolmates.
Claudia Pandolfi plays the role of Teresa Manes, Andrea's mother, while Corrado Fortuna plays his father . The protagonist, who plays Andrea, is the young and talented Samuele Carrino , Andrea Arru plays Christian – the school bully – and Sara Ciocca plays Sara, Andrea's best friend . The song in the trailer, which will accompany the film's release, is titled " Canta Ancora ," an unreleased song that Arisa wrote for her mother and which in the film becomes a letter that Andrea dedicates to Teresa.
"What killed Andrea more than bullying was silence." These are the words of his mother, Teresa Manes , whose book "Andrea, Beyond the Pink Pants" is the basis for the film, which aims to raise awareness about bullying and its consequences, encouraging young people to maintain hope and overcome difficult times. The central message is that everything can be overcome. And that respect and empathy are fundamental.
"It is with a great sense of responsibility that we embrace the cause that the film 'The Boy with Pink Pants' seeks to advance," says Ferencz Bartocci, CEO of Derthona Basket and sole director of Gestione Cittadella. " Both at Derthona Basket and at Gestione Cittadella, we are on the front lines with the National Observatory on Bullying and Youth Distress. We firmly believe that fighting these social ills requires a truly united purpose. We must not turn a blind eye, but rather face situations with tenacity and, above all, be available to our young people every day, addressing their cries of alarm and their concerns, and being ready for a real discussion with them. As a sports club, of course, our commitment also includes being open to families to try to resolve any critical situations that may arise. A hug to the mother who is carrying this message forward with great courage and strength . "
