Bertram Derthona and Massimo Olivieri say goodbye
Massimo Olivieri will not hold the role of Technical Manager of the Youth Sector in the 2020/21 season. The Club received notification of the coach's decision to leave his position for personal reasons.
ʺI can't say that Massimo Olivieri's farewell caught me prepared – the words of Andrea Ablatico, president of the Derthona Basketball Lab –. È It was a bolt from the blue. The relationship with Massimo has always been fruitful and collaborative, as well as a harbinger of results on both a technical and logistical level. Seeing many of our guys from last year's DNG preparing to experience a new season in important categories is the most direct testimony of this. Furthermore, the group of coaches and trainers that Olivieri has brought together will continue his work in an excellent manner, while awaiting the official definition of his successor. However, everything that Massimo gave me from a human point of view will always remain with me and goes beyond life choices that must be serenely accepted. In Tortona Massimo leaves many grateful people, many friends and men who will respect him in whatever capacity life gives us the opportunity to meet again. Tortona will always be his homeʺ.
Having arrived in Tortona in the summer of 2018, Olivieri was assistant coach of the first team, first with Lorenzo Pansa and then with Marco Ramondino, during his first year with Juventus, before taking on the role of Technical Manager of the Youth Sector in 2019/ 20, a season in which he led the Under 18 DNG to the solitary top of the Group A standings at the time of the championships being stopped.
The club wishes to thank Massimo for the work carried out and the professionalism demonstrated during the two years he spent in Tortona and wishes him the best of luck for the continuation of his professional future.
Below is the greeting letter that Massimo Olivieri wanted to write for Derthona Basket and all the people who collaborated with him:
ʺDear LEONI and LEONCINI, until a few hours ago I would never have thought of writing this post, but life sometimes presents us with unexpected choices that change our future, however we make them: the famous sliding doors.
This was the case with Lorenzo's call, which I will never stop thanking and being grateful for, to enter your society, your country, your extended family and this is how it has been now. The sadness for this farewell, however, is comforted by the fact of having lived 27 months as a true Leo, exciting, unique, sanguine, never banal surrounded by a visceral passion for this sport.
A huge THANK YOU to all the management, in particular to Andrea, with whom little by little, day after day, I was building a beautiful youth sector from the foundations, never lacking his support and consent, personally and materially such as for example having renewed my contract for 3 years in such an uncertain time; Roberto, Marco, Pia and Alessandro for their 24 hour availability always and only for the "good" of Derthona following the ideas of the unforgettable and always beacon for all of us: LUIGINO.
THANK YOU to Diego who with his passion, competence, scrupulousness, always in an elegant way followed me step by step.
THANK YOU to Ferencz for his great humanity and professionalism aimed at 360° on all corporate aspects.
THANK YOU to all my staff who have supported and put up with me for these months: if there is a little piece of me that is calm at this moment it is given by the awareness that I leave to my successor a complete and compact structure, made up of real people who they put the children's growth before everything.
THANKS to Olympia Basket Voghera, in particular to Stefano and Ettore Barbieri: I am convinced that the path taken is the right one and will certainly continue to be followed to achieve the objectives we have set ourselves!
THANKS to coach Marco, with whom after many years of crossing paths on the fields, I finally had the pleasure of collaborating and respecting, experiencing problematic moments but other beautiful ones such as the joy of winning the Super Cup, together with Vanni, Gianmarco, Gianluca and Lorenzo.
THANK YOU to Massimo and the great Vito for the support, work and cheering you did with joy in your heart for the youth sector groups regardless of age.
THANKS to Riccardo, a real person, scrupulous professional, prepared, moderate, honest and frank... a rarity in the sports agent sector.
THANKS TO ALL THE GUYS, especially the DNG group: I will never forget the journey, the sacrifice and the emotions you gave on the pitch and I will continue to use them as an example. You have demonstrated that with dedication, seriousness and passion "nothing is unattainable regardless"!
THANK YOU to all the families who supported our work and who always supported in a proactive way, filling the stands of the Camagna (the sold out on 23 December will be unforgettable) many times.
I close, but certainly not in order of importance, with THANKS to Dr. Gavio because with his support he is allowing professionals, in a sector which is somewhat in crisis, to work in the best possible way to achieve the objectives set both with first team, both in the youth sector, allowing many kids to participate in sporting activities and to be able to dream and grow in a healthy and protected environment.
Now begins a new job, a new adventure, the first chapter of a book to be written with a topic that is quite unknown to me but into which I will throw all my energy, with my head down and with humility as I have always tried to do in these 24 years of " field”, trying to acquire its knowledge, secrets and slowly put a bit of my own into it.
I will ALWAYS feel like a true LION and I will carry it in my heart with pride and honor.
