In 2013 he left the parent club Zalgiris and moved to Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys, playing in the national championship (33 games, 3.3 points and 2.1 rebounds) and the Baltic League (14 games, 7.1 points and 3 rebounds on average); then, in the summer of 2013, after some tryouts with Italian teams, she joined her sister Indre Sorokaite, the Italian volleyball national team and signed in Piacenza, in A2 Silver.
In Emilia he played 30 games, closing the season with an average of 15.4 points and 8.7 rebounds, numbers which earned him the call of Remer Treviglio for the following season in the A2 series, East group. In the white and blue he contributed to the comfortable salvation of his team with 11.6 points and 8.2 rebounds on average, then moving on to Jesi to play the playoffs in place of the injured Neiko Hunter: goal achieved with an average of 11.8 points and 7.6 rebounds.
In the season just ended Sorokas wore the Treviglio shirt again, crossing his path with that of the Lions twice: at the end of the thirty-five games played, thirty of the regular season and five of the playoff series of the round of 13.3 against Trieste, Sorokas totaled 8.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 52 assists, with 2% from 31 points and XNUMX% from long range.
Thus coach Lorenzo Pansa: “Paulius perfectly represents what this Derthona must be: he is a worker, a fighter, a player of enormous intensity. A lion who, thanks to daily work, has grown a lot both technically and tactically in his three years in Italy. He fully represents the profile we were looking for and that we would like to be as a team profile."
Thus sporting director Miro De Giuli: "I followed Sorokas' Italian experience closely, seeing him first in the summer of 2013, when he passed through Ravenna for some training sessions, and then on the pitch as an opponent, wearing the Piacenza and Treviglio shirts . On the occasion of the first meeting, I was struck by the great humility with which he set out to find a contract in Italy, convinced that leaving his native country to face a more competitive championship was a fundamental step in building his career. . The path he was the protagonist of in Italy and the results he was able to obtain personally and with the Treviglio shirt demonstrate an extraordinary character and willpower: these are the pillars on which, starting from next August 16th, we will build all together the Derthona to come.”
These are the first words of Paulius Sorokas in black and white: “I am very happy because Derthona is a serious club, which in these years of Serie A2 has always played to win and has also done very well in the playoffs. I am grateful for the interest shown in me since the early stages of the market, a situation of this type is what I was looking for.”
