A great Derthona scores the first away success of his season with heart and determination. The Lions built their success in the two central quarters, taking a small advantage which was then consolidated in the last ten minutes of the match, in which the great team defense was echoed by the heavy baskets of Greene, Cosey and Sanna.
After an initial period of great balance, it was Derthona who scored the first goal of the match. Two three-point baskets by Ricci, repeated from distance by Sanna and Mascherpa, allowed the Bianconeri to close the first half of the match at 32-36
Latina's return arrives on time (40-40 at 25'), but Derthona doesn't feel the pinch; indeed, two "bombs" from Cosey and Conti bring the Juventus advantage back into the orbit of the two possessions just before the penultimate siren (44-50 at 29').
The Lions sense the moment and bite their prey: the defense turns up the volume, while in the offensive half of the field Greene's three-point basket is matched by Cosey's, making it 50-58 in the 34th minute.
Latina relies on DeShields but Garri and Sanna, with another heavy basket, make it 52-65 which opens the Juventus breakaway in the 37th minute. Latina returns to -6 (59-65), but Derthona controls until the final 66-75.
Thus Demis Cavina: “This is a great victory, obtained with an excellent defense and a very lucid fourth quarter in attack. We made some mistakes, but we put our heart on the field and were able to solve our problems. Winning in this emergency period, in which some things in attack are still not successful, has a double value. Today we played thirty-five minutes of great intensity, even those who didn't make a basket played a strong game and we managed to win on a pitch that was anything but easy. I'm really happy for our boys."
